Unfortunately this category cannot advance with the help of the support group unless Groundspeak first intervenes. If someone is promoted to officer status then the support group folks can join up, be promoted by the new officer, and then help with demoting the AWOL leaders. I sent off an email. Hopefully we can get this category moving again soon.

is something new about pedestrian suspension bridges? i can offer my help as officer too.

I never heard back.....

I too e-mailed Groundspeak and have been successful in hearing back! I was told to "Please try contacting the current officers first. If you do not hear back from any one with in a week please let us know and we will try to install you as a officer for the category". I know a lot of us have done that already for Pedestrian Suspension Bridges but I thought I would do it once more as asked by Groundspeak. I'm not expecting to her anything back from the PSB team so next week I'll probably be getting back to Groundspeak asking to be installed as an officer.

"Outdoor Recreation Stores"  Submitted a waymark 2/26  22 days later still out there. No one has shown logged in since 2/24

"Churchyard Cemeteries " Submitted a waymark   3/7  13 days later still out there the leader logged on 3/20 other 2 officers 1/30 and  11/24/2009

church cem: i sent a note to SQ stating that it looks like its just him....hinting that he could focus his efforts there, maybe promote someone to help.....he has been 'away' for a while now....i thnk he is about due 'home'.....

i want to 'shout' out for the following:

abandoned cemeteries (i sent a note to #1 and #2 about approving some marks a few days--its been almost 2 weeks)

ghost signs (i think it was the same #1 and #2 from above)

not, um, calling any names, but it seems like those 2 would be on top of those sorts of things....

Except above mentioned Pedestrian Suspension Bridges and Ghost Signs also Synagogues, Superlatives, Antique Hotels, Water Dams, Roman Catholic Churches... It looks that without SQs help are all these categories dead.

but 'my' suggestiona just above this are for groundspeak led categories....alas, SQ is not an officer...so he gets none of that 'blame'....

Thanks for trying. I am beginning to think that Groundspeak are trying to swoosh this one under the carpet but I cannot understand why. I have had no reply also.

It concerns me that there are floundering categories, although it makes sense that people come and go, and such occurrences are inevitable.

It concerns me a lot more that there has been no demonstrable effort on the part of Groundspeak to truly address the issue of abandoned or neglected categories, despite numerous offers from people who sincerely want to help.

but, groundspeak has abandoned several categories themselves.....

they have already passed McDs, Wiki, and a few others on to 'us'.....

but they still remain in control (or lack thereof) of a few categories.....

it took 2 notes to get them to approve some things.....sweep us under the rug? weve never been let out of the carpet covered trap door in the floor.....
