No they are not.  They are separate activities with separate counts.

If, and when, Waymarking stats are included with Geocaching stats you will see a LOT more visits from Geocachers.  I attended a Geocaching event recently where I was asked to explain Waymarking to the group.  I was the only one, as far as I know, that does Waymarking.  I only create Waymarks and rarely visit them.  I prefer Virtual Geocaching and Benchmarking.  

Wait, just a minute!! I do both geocaching and waymarking, although I have only recently gotten into waymarking. I post them and visit them. In my area I find most waymarks are done by RedRose and Team Bean. I have more waymarks posted then geocaches that I have placed. I haven't gotten the same number of geocaches as waymarks, but that is coming in the next year or so I'm sure.

I too both geocache and waymark. Although I cache much less frequently now.

 I appreciate your visits. You are certainly the most prolific visitor that I have had log my waymark creations and I appreciate the corrections/updates that you pass along as well. I'll be returning the visits to your new University of Oregon waymarks when I get over there the next time.

Back on topic:
 It would be funny if the smiley face would become another waymarking icon in the grid at some point. I think that it would be nice if all Groundspeak stats were in one place

Can you imagine the knot that some cachers would tie themselves into about that since they have decided before they try it that they do not and will not like it.
