    Dear Tom:

Thank you for letting us know the limit of top ten has been removed. I really appreciate that your group has considered the views of the posters on this forum and recognized the need for a little tweaking in your category. As you know, this is one of my favorite categories since I enjoy sculpture and sharing what I find with others. I guess it is my French heritage showing. If you have ever been to Paris, almost every square foot of unused land has some sort of pubic art. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I thank you for helping with this problem.

Sorry I mistook your email about cross-posting, but you did not identify that you had asked me to cross-post. Maybe when the Waymarking site gets updated, there will be a different way to cross post so one does not have to make a Waymark that fits into several categories a separate post each time. I think that would also save on server space for the Waymarking site providers.

Take care and Happy Bastille Day!!!

Re: Denied because I have done too many in a category - huh?

While reviewing a waymark for Abstract Sculptures, I took the time to read the expanded posting instructions for Figurative Public Sculpture. The 10 limit has been removed, but the category still asks for just a few of your favorites. Again, this is problematic on two fronts:

First, I have favorites right now, but I may (actually, will) find a new sculpture that moves further up the list of my favorites. As I have mentioned before, I have no crystal ball to tell if I will never find any sculpture 'better' than the ones I have posted OR if living artists will not create any more great sculptures. What happens if one visits or moves to a new state/country? No more favorites for you! New artists will provide new sculptures. This idea of a 'top few favorites' is impossible to actually institute in any reasonable manner.

Second, there are many different tastes in art. I personally do not really care for 'Precious Moments' style of sculpture. However, there are those who really enjoy this style of sculpture. So, according to the posting directions, I should not waymark that sculpture. Tough luck for anyone who may have wanted to find and enjoy that sculpture. Again, this is counter intuitive to Waymarking.

With the millions of figurative public sculptures throughout the world, there are more than any waymarker or waymarking team could ever post. Sculptures contiune to be created; topics of the sculpture will change; current events will create new topics for sculpture; artists will interpret old topics in new ways. Why try to limit progress in a category that by its very creation strives to celebrate sculpture?

Perhaps this category just needs a few more officers to approve submissions? The leader of Abstract Public Sculptures asked for help and I responded. I'm sure that it would not be difficult to find other competent waymarkers to help with approve/deny if the current Figurative Public Sculpture Officers are overloaded.

    Take care,

How odd still, to suggest that someone should only include their personal favourites.  I try to picture a public library taking this approach.

I regret to inform you that we do not carry Stephen King because he does not make the list of our favourite authors.  Please enjoy some of the fine works from Piers Anthony, H.P. Lovercraft and David Eddings.   That is all we carry at this time.

Saves on shelf space I guess Wink

Maybe I just don't like my creativity being restrained or shackled.

    Cool BQ
