yes, might there be an option to reply to the thread, not a specific post? might eleminate some confusion.

I've never seen such an option on this forum. Would be nice, though. Lots of other forums have that feature.

I doubt that Community Server 2.0 can be adjusted to add that feature.

The best method would be to use the "quote" button so that people know who you are replying to.

    Re: Slightly Annoying Category Denial

Uh-oh! Your waymark, 'American Legion Post 110 - Monticello, GA' has been
denied by the category owner. The following reason/comments for the denial was
    given:

Please make the following edit then resubmit:
Posting Instructions: "Name of branch/post & number" in "quotation marks"
    ------------------------------------

how about that one? what difference does it make if the name is in quotations or not? do i need to cite the quotation in my bibliography as well? might as well have my GPS in the pic too.....

edit to say these (on the first page of results) do not have '"name"'

    http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM7ZEQ_Hawkins_B_Carter_Post_255_American_Legion_Fultondale_AL

should i look at pages 2-11? this isnt my first post in the category, and ive never used quotation marks in a waymark name......

    Re: Slightly Annoying Category Denial

Just because on the older waymarks formats weren't enforced doesn't mean that they shouldn't enforce on the new waymarks.

It's not like you can't edit and resubmit. Formatting errors are the easiest.

    Re: Slightly Annoying Category Denial

The category description specifically states that the quotation marks are required.

Please note: The title must be posted as "Name of branch/post & number" in "quotation marks" and then the name of the city/town

Your submitted waymark was legitimately declined.

Sometimes, when I'm approving I just fix typos and formatting errors myself. It's easier than declining and approving. Some people don't know they can edit waymarks they are approving.

    Re: Slightly Annoying Category Denial

but, if its such a big deal, why havent the 'existing' marks been edited to the current standards?

not like officers cant just edit the mark, or others cant suggest the edit (you know, delegate if you have to)....

and the fact that is trivial....what if i used ' instead of "? i dont think mine are in the 'right' place either....

i dint know that the american legion had it out for waymarking for copyright infringement by not including the post name in quotation marks....

There could be any number of reasons why the existing waymarks haven't been changed to be compliant with this particular requirement. Perhaps the officers are not aware that some of the waymarks are missing the quotation marks. Perhaps the officers are planning to update the non-compliant waymarks at some future date. Perhaps the officers have decided to allow the existing non-compliant waymarks to stand as is, and only plan on enforcing the quotation mark requirement for new waymarks.

If it really bothers you you might want to send an email to the category leader, or submit edit suggestions on the non-compliant waymarks.

I agree that's a better way to handle simple format changes.  But every time I've tried, I've not been able to figure out how to edit someone's waymark when I'm reviewing it.  Can someone step through how this works?

I think the only way is to approve it and then go to the waymark page and click the edit link.

That's the way I've always done it.

    Re: Slightly Annoying Category Denial

    Thanks, I will try that.

I had been looking for an edit button that I could use prior to approval.  It's understandable why I'd make the mistake of applying a geocaching review mindset to waymarking!

    Re: Slightly Annoying Category Denial

Yes, this is the way I do it as well.

It would be nice if the edits could be made prior to the publish though.

    Re: Slightly Annoying Category Denial

    That would be nice.

There actually is an edit link on the page of the waymark being reviewed, but clicking on it takes you to a page with the message "This waymark is awaiting review by one of the category managers", and the only option is to cancel submission of the waymark.

This is not the method I use because I find that too difficult, because it involves locating the listing after I accept it.

So I "edit" right off the bat, which means that it forces me to "cancel this submission" then fix the minor item and then I resubmit it. I can then see the "corrected version" in my review area and all is good.

As for any that were previously accepted, I will tell you exactly what I say when I'm wearing my "soggy paper hat"... "I'm not reviewing those listings, I'm reviewing this one."

    Re: Slightly Annoying Category Denial

The thing I have liked about this thread is that it gives us a "heads up" to slightly quirky categories.

So, in that line, I am passing on that US National Parks doesn't accept National Monuments funded through the BLM, only those funded through the National Park Service.

It seems that several veteran waymarkers may have been aware of this, as the other BLM funded National Monuments are listed in Public Access lands and National Parks of the world. Since I just bumped into the quirky cat with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasha-Katuwe_Tent_Rocks_National_Monument , I thought I would pass the info on.
