What About a Kite Store Category?

I searched the categories and didn't come up with any matches. True kite stores are much more then toy or hobby stores. True, you can buy kites in a toy or hobby shop, or your local 7-11 in the summer, but it's like buying a bicycle from Wal-mart. You get what you pay for.

True kite stores focus on all aspects of kiting; building materials including spars and light weight, high strength fabric, flying line, line winders, wind socks, single line kites, stunt kites, line climbers, kite building and history books, kite aerial photography, sponsors of kite festivals, etc.

I would have to come up with detailed differentiators to separate out the toy stores. On-line purchasing would not count. It will have to be a retail store. A place you can touch and see the colors. Multiple store locations of the same outlet would be separate waymarks. This is a world wide category.

    Here are a few examples: http://kligbro.com/, http://www.kittyhawk.com/

So I give it another try.  My first attempt was for the birds. Garmin_geek

I wrote pet stores and butcher shops so I'd be a hypocrit to oppose. You seem to know what you're talking about. I'd imagine you'll have to make a case for them being global.

I've seen a flag store that also carry a huge inventory of kites, and many go for hundreds of dollars. Would a place like this be included?

I would suggest working out the details here in the forums, even copying/pasting your write-up. We all have a lot of good ideas and it will definitely make a difference in peer review.

I guess my question to you is, was Flag used in the store name? Kligs Kites in Myrtle Beach, SC is a kite store but probably has more flags than kites.

I have been an on again off again kite builder, flyer and kite aerial photographer for over 15 years. My wife tells me I have way to many hobbies. I still try and stop at every kite store I come across.

I like the idea of presenting a sample cat. page here first. I think I did the whole "start a group" thing backward on my first try, without getting forum input first.

Thanks for the offer to review my idea.
