Whats happening in the Czech Republic?

When I click waymarks, all the "high hitters" for the last 7 days are Czech Republic.

All the high hits on my own waymarks are my Czech Republic waymarks.

Is there some sort of a contest or Challenge going on over there?

None that I am aware of.
There have been a few threads about waymarking recently on the local geocaching forums, so maybe the Czech geocaching community is starting to discover the waymarking. In my categories I have noticed some new posters from CZ, and some of my waymarks living peacefully several years without a visit have been visited recently
Also, the popular topic in the discussions was "how do I download all Czech waymarks" and instructions how to do it with webpage scraping software popular here - that might also explain the activity.

I have had a flurry of great submissions from several users in CZ. I wondered what was going on there as well.

Each of the submissions that have come through my review cue has been a pleasure to review.

I fully agree with Haggaeus... I started with waymarking in April 2009 (after 6 yeárs of geocaching) together with my friend David (Dáin & Olík team), and at that time we had ca 350 Czech waymarks, mostly from Czech geodetic points category (managed by Haggaeus).

After year of hard way-work :) we have 2400 waymarks and every day I am approving new waymarks from newly emerged Czech waymarkers. Our small snowball provoked avalanche... :). If the situation in CZ-waymarking will copy situation in geocaching, soon approvers of non-US categories will be very busy :)

    Good job!

This also runs along the same line that it has take geocaching 10 years to have 1 million active listings, and they have a huge pool of active members. Our almost cottage game has nearly 250,000 active listings in 4.5 years. I would again wager that geocaching.com did not have that many active listings in its first 5 years.

We've done a lot of great stuff, and hopefully we can catch on in many other places like it sounds like it has in the Czech Republic.

    Cool BQ

Expect some increased activity again - there was a thread in local GC forums celebrating CZ jumping to the 4th place in number of waymarks statistics worldwide, some new waymarkers might appear, or the old ones might be reminded that WM still exists.

What's more, the weather is nice, sunny and not too hot, the best combination for hiking and photographing :)

Re: Whats happening in the Czech Republic?

all of the edits i approved yeterday were for someone adding a region where there was none listed. this might explain the number of views going up....

    Wonderful!

I must say that there are some very high quality waymarks coming out of the Czech Republic!  Makes me want to put your country on my list of places to visit!

Waymarking still remains largely unknown here in Korea.  Actually, geocaching has really taken off in only the last two years.   The primary obstacle for waymarking is a lack of English language ability.  Now, I can post descriptions in Korean, but I'm not sure how that would go over.  (I'll probably add that to some waymarks, though).  But, if I can get Jiho interested in waymarking, watch out!  He's a real fire ball, and our leading geocacher, by far.

Anyway, it is gratifying to see Waymarking.com beome more and more international in scope!
