    this is a good resolution.

however, it still might be desirable to have other sorts of logging types.

What other log types did you have in mind?  For me, I'm missing the concept of a DNF (did not find).

I can't even think about *visiting* my own waymarks if I can't *find* my own waymarks.  This happens to me regularly in categories like historic markers where there's a big online database to tell you where the markers are.  But sometimes the descriptions are sketchy, and sometimes the markers go missing just as geocaches do.  There's no place to record my futile searches, which are sometimes amusing, because there is no waymark page.

I am imagining that once I get into the swing of visiting other people's waymarks, I'll prove myself to be just as adept at DNF'ing a waymark as I am at DNF'ing  a geocache.  When that happens, writing a note just won't have the same special feeling.  It's all about the frownies, you know.

Well Lep... now that you bring it up Big Smile

There will come a time, especially since people are owning Waymarks across the world instead of just within 100 miles, that a problem is going to come up.

Does "Posting a Note" suffice?  Or should there be a "Report a Problem" entry too?

    Cool BQ

That time came 3 months ago. A waymarked McD was torn down, a new building is being constructed. No sign that says what it will be. Will it be a new McD to replace the old? Perhaps a Starbucks? Maybe a BURGER QUEEN or a DAIRY KING? The new foundation isn't much bigger than the old.

Start a category for "Places That Used to Be a McDonalds."  The management group could be called "Fallen Arches."

    Problem solved.  Next?

You may be kidding around there Lep, but there was a proposal a few months back very much like that.  It was for Fast Food restaurants that have become something else but you could tell what they once were.  I don't recall who started it, but Bootron and I were Officers.  The Cat was never developed and eventually I dropped out.

    Re: Visiting own waymark

Been a while since visiting the forums....neat read, this thread.

I too, dont log a visit to my own WM, as i want my numbers to reflect those of other waymarkers WM's i have visited.  Pretty soon, we'll need qualifers to identify who is counting what.  That said, i have been enlightened on why others feel the need and am not opposed to the concept.

What ever floats one's boat is how it should go, as long as they arent logging a visit before the WM is approved.  That should be a standard rule, as a lot of categorie managements are now getting more effective and making sure that the trash gets weeded out.  I have seen 5 submissions in the last 2 days that will never get approved (wrong cat, really bad picture, no data, really bad coords-google earth developed?) and if they had logged their visit, than they are getting credit for something they dont deserve.  Wish there was a garbage recycler for the group leadership to use (by 100% vote of course) to weed out the discarded statistics hounds.

    Re: Visiting own waymark

When I first started Waymarking, I logged a few visits before they were approved.
Then one category specifically said not to do that, so I didn't. And then I found out that one had better options for uploading pics if the log was done after approval (at least that's how it was then).  On top of that, one of my visited WMs was declined.  I archived it, but the visit didn't go away.  I FINALLY found how to delete that log too.

Now I always wait to log until after approval.

    Re: Visiting own waymark

That's exactly what I do now, and it is far easier for me.

    1. Make the Waymark Listing
    2. Receive "Your Waymark was Accepted" email
    3. Add my new Waymark to an XL Spreadsheet
    4. Click link and view the Listing
    5. Log my Visit, using the date of creation and say "Owner Visit"
This way I know that I am logging my Visit after someone has double-checked my submission.

The reason I record all of my Waymarks in an XL Spreadsheet is that hopefully one day someone other than Yorelken will Visit some of my listings.  Yeah, I'm a DATA MINER. Geeked

It makes it easier for me to find other people's Waymarks, on the rare occation there is one, if I filter out my own.  The only way to do that is to Visit my own.  Figuring out how many I've Visited of other people's is simple substaction.
