    Occupational Monuments

Now Recruiting: For the Occupational Monuments category - http://www.waymarking.com/groups/details.aspx?f=1&guid=83411b8f-7d87-4978-bab2-b344cacb53a0&gid=6

There are many categories for statues to specific people, but none seem to cover those occupations that keep society running along.  Examples would include statues and monuments to the actual job, not specific people.

At this time, it is likely that any examples based upon war or the military would be excluded since there are many existing categories for this aspect of life.  Civilian occupations in general are excellent for inclusion.  The day to day job, people that devote their lives to contributing to regular aspects of society without conflict.

    Cool BQ

This should not be confused to Occupational/Hobby Graves Stones category,  it does not appear that these categories would overlap as grave stones are for a specific person.

Correct!  We do NOT want any Graves.  We are looking for statues and monuments, typically placed for public display.

Graves most commonly are for individuals.  This category is NOT about individuals.  As an example:

Monument to Fishermen of Lake Erie

BQ:  I think this category is truly in the waymarking spirit!  These re things that are rarely seen in a guidebook and need some research ... or just dumb luck to stumble upon!

If you still need officers let me know.

    Re: Occupational Monuments

it seems to me that many monuments created by trade unions would fit in this category.  For example, the miners union created a memorial to coal miners that perished in Pennsylvania.
