I have an idea for a Waymark, but...

It fits more than 1 catagory.

Example. (not the specific catagories, but you'll get the idea)

    1. It relates to a famous person.
    2. It's a building of a certain age.
    3. It has a thatched roof.
    4. Maybe others as well!

Can 1 waymark be in more than 2 or more catagories?
Can more than 1 waymark be at the same co-ordinates?
If not, how do you (I) decide which to put it in?

Yes, you can list the waymark in several categories as long as it meets the qualifications as specified by each category.   For example check out coordinates N 38° 37.440 W 090° 11.101 or N 38° 45.590 W 090° 10.459

    Thanks!

I have a Waymark of a statue of William Shakespeare in the "Statues of Historic Figures" but think it fits into the "William Shakespeare" catagory as well.

I have made another Waymark to re-list it!

Your statue of William Shakespeare can also be posted in the Extraterrestrial Locations category  see waymark WM43E3.

So... Even though someone has already set a waymark, I can set up my waymarked statue to the same extraterrestial location?

Yes as long as it is a different statue.  Now if we were posting that actual extraterrestrial location then only one of us could post it... I am not going to Mercury anytime soon so you can post that one Big Smile

    Interesting!

Is there a maximum number of catagories 1 Waymark can be in?
    Sounds an interesting challenge!!!

Re: I have an idea for a Waymark, but...

One location can be in as many categories as the location can meet the requirements for.  For example an old Catholic cathedral could be listed possibly in Cathedrals, Catholic churches, Old Church (if over 100 years old), National Register of Historic Places (if it is on the register), American Guide (if found in one of the American Guide books from the depression era), Tourist Attraction (if listed on an official tourism site), Stained glass windows (if it has them and I haven't seen one yet that didn't), Cemeteries of World (if their is a crypt below where bishops have been interred),  Town Clock (if the cathedral has a clock in its spire)  Unique Steeples (if it has an interesting spire or steeple) and if it had a historical marker out front maybe there also.   Possibly a few more too.  You would want to have to appropriate photos and slightly different write up for the different categories.
