    STAR TREK

We have a category for Star Wars... but none for STAR TREK

Star Trek has a huge following, from various aspects of life... and there are many places where people can share their joy of this important part of life on this planet!  Let's get recording these!

Places named after characters and locations found in the Star Trek universe, permanent displays of Star Trek props, interactive entertainment options involving Star Trek.... they all apply.

We have been waiting for this category for years!

We even took a picture and GPS location in January when we visited the NASA Rocket Park in Houston.  The have streets named after Startreck Vessels in Houston:

Ok, for those of us who have no knowledge and no interest in Star Trek, how do we go about finding things for this category, let alone knowing whether or not they were named after Star Trek rather than just being named like a Star Trek thing?

Lazycachers, for those of us with no knowledge about or interest in Star Trek (that includes me), why should we worry about finding things for the category?  There's nothing that says just because a cat exists we have to be knowledgable about it and post something for it.  That we aren't Trekies doesn't make it a bad idea for a category.  If it's that important to get the grid block, look it up and learn a little bit, post or visit then stick it on your "ignore" list. Well, we didn't say it was a bad cat and yes, we do like getting the grid block.  It's just that we don't know where to start.  Again, for those in the know, how do we go about finding things for this category, let alone knowing whether or not they were named after Star Trek rather than just being named like a Star Trek thing?

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that. Smile

    Ask friends... Smile

I think it would pretty hard to find someone that doesn't have a friend that is into Star Trek at some level (even if they are in the closet about their "Trekiness").

But yes, this category does lend itself to those that share this interest.  There are many categories like that though.  I couldn't find a medieval fair or hot air balloon festival without doing some research.

Not everyone enjoys Star Trek, and that is absolutely fine.  There aren't any specific locations around me that I can think of off the top of my head, but the three so far have all shown me something I was happy to learn more about.  Especially the two "landscapes" from filming... that was really cool.  And even though they could be in the "Movie Locations" category, I would have never looked there.
