We realized that a "state/country" search is really a filter option, not a starting point search like the address/postal code/coordinate searches. So we moved the state/country search to the filter section on search results page. 

In case you are having trouble, here's how to filter by country/state:

Go to the front page and make sure the waymark tab is selected on the search box. Do some kind of search (keyword, address, both or neither). When the results page shows up, click on the blue filter bar. This will open up a series of filter options. Find the country/state options and select the appropriate country and state. Click "update".

Icons arent appearing on the grid. I just got a waymark in a category I never had a waymark in. The icon didnt appear in grid.

Ok, this one should be fixed now.  Looking into the icon issue now.

I love the search.

But how do I delete one of my waymarks? I see where to archive, but how do I delete?

Also, what is the function for the "make visible in directory" checkbox now? It doesn't seem to do anything, but I could be wrong.

We have changed the delete/archive functionality with this release. We now only allow users to delete denied or unfinished waymarks. If the waymark has been approved or sent to approval, you can only archive them. And you may be right about the "make visible in directory" checkbox.  I will do some testing on it and get back to you.

My new metal detecting waymark from that group as well as my thatch cottage wayamrk from that group. I've notice it on other people's grids too.

** Newly approved waymarks are added to my overall stats but NOT to the Waymark List where category totals appear. 

Haven't added a new category, but am about to, so I'll check out the grid icon when it is approved.
(Is there is a way to determine where in the grid it should be)?

** Don't know how to view the rest of my waymarks, since only the most recent 2000 show up.

Okay, I just posted and had approved waymark WM5TYT to the Hiking Path Footbridge category, and it was accepted.  This is a new category for me.  My overall waymark count was updated, but it does NOT appear on my waymark list and the icon does not show up on the grid, 29C.  I suspect those two are related.  That also means the category total was not updated.

Ok here are 2 I have found and one has been that way all along.

When I log into the forums I have to refresh the page to be able to do anything.

My saved Searches:When I am logged in and click on my saved searches it logs me out and I have to log back in to see it.

That is all I have found so far and everything else is awesome as usual.

I just approved what I thought was the 2001st in the Neon Signs category, but when I went back to the category it said there were 2000. Then after going to "Largest Categories", I noticed all of the top categories were only showing the 2000 most recent. I'm not sure if this is related to the recent update.

Yep.  They've set the limit for results returned on ANY search to 2000.  That means that those of us with over that can't easily see all our waymarks, and we can't see all the waymarks in a large category.  I recognize the need for speed, but I wonder what the speed gain actually is.  Has that been measured?  Then, I wonder if the trade-off with this limit is worth it. I would like to see the abiltity at least to set a hire limit on a specific search.  Seems to me I see this on other search routines - a place to check how many records one would like to have retrurned.  The default could be set low for speed, with the option to set it hire if needed.

I like the country count.  Very cool.  It would be cool to be able to see the waymark count on the complete category list feature, too!

Other cool things I'd love to see with stats would be a breakdown of my personal waymarks by state/country.  The map is a great visual, but numbers are good, too.

It would even be great to see that state/country breakout for an individual category, or a breakout on a category by waymarker.

Waymark counts not showing  when selecting largest category link, I think it did before.  If not, it is needed now as there is no way get waymark counts in larger categories.  (it must be doing the count to determine which categories are the largest, thus may as well display the counts)

Features needed/wanted:

Date range search needed or "next 2000 button" needed, or both would be preferable.  Currently there is no easy way to view earlier waymarks in large categories or my own waymarks... currently have to add another criteria such as state or waymarker in large categories and state or category for my own, in some cases additional criteria are needed to get below 2000.

Direct link to waymark filter/query page.  It would be good to have the ability to go directly to waymark filter page without doing more generic waymark search first.  Currently have to select newest waymark link or my waymarks or some other search before filter page can be accessed.

yes, it would be nice to sometimes say, show more than 2000 marks.

oh, great, more suspiscions about wrong stats. i have had my doubts about this for a long time.

i have yet to toy with the archived stuff, but i see that the discussions i had with several of you have made their rounds and the issue has been resolved (in theory at least for now). i would like so see an archive note, a explanation for the archiving. kinda like the hide and seek game. 'building demolished, economy hit McDs, subway moved several block north, penny smasher moved several buisnesse down street, etc)

[add]i have a suggestion for the map: anyone here use ArcGIS products? there when you display a map with lots of features, the labels tend to obscure each other. you can set labels to alter their 'properties' so that they can [most] all be seen. so if i mark a church in 4 categories, insted of seeing the last 'icon' approved (or whatever the stipulation is) they could 'spread around':

(sorry for the crude image, but i think you can get the idea). granted this is a factor of zoom level as well. what about a waymarking.com google map, so that we might navigate by scrolling map instead of waymark listing (a la the hide and seek google map). sounds like a premium feature to me

i think that we have just saw the tip of the waymark count stats. first we got the total on the home page. now we have regions/states. i hope that we can suggest more things to fuel our number fetishes.

yes, i too 'played' that grid game. but also hated having to scroll up to find the column heading. i can deal with this. however, what about printing the grid? are the new grid 'breaks' in alignment with page margins (i know paper is different sizes, in the US standard is 8.5"x11"). can the grid breaks be in accordance with this: column headings print at top and bottom of page. no 'bad page breaks'.

I also have two new icons that have not yet appeared on the grid, one in AMVET and one in Presbyterian Churches. Both were approved since the upgrade and both new icons for me. Are we still looking into it?....Thanks, PT.

Over all, the update's great. I'm liking the new features and ways to search. I've since been able to delete formerly archived waymarks. I'm sure this will save some space on the servers. I also found if you're an officer in the group running any particular category you can in fact delete a waymark that has been approved. First reevaluate it, then archive and delete. It may let you delete after reevaluating it. Why you ask would anyone do this? Well, when Route 66 was created, I got a bit over-zealous and posted a whole bunch, and then decided not to hog it all. Now, those waymarks are not only up for grabs, they are completely gone (as far as I can tell) saving space. And my numbers reflect my actual listing. I no longer have numbers for a waymark formerly approved and then decided to can. I hope you got all that.

The only thing I find problematic is the 2000 max. I think we should be able to see a category in its entirety, without having to make filter adjustments. As an officer in many groups, I like to see how they're doing as far as the numbers go. Yeah, I know it's not about the numbers. But as each category recieved a milestone number, it was nice to let the person posting, that theirs was the one to hit a particular mark. Right now there are only 9 categories that have over 2000 waymarks, but 50 more water towers and good luck keeping track how many there are. And then it'll be McDonalds followed by Wikipedia Entries, and so on.

As far as speed goes I surely noticed no difference when clicking on Neon Signs (2000+) versus Abstract Public Sculptures (1212). Probably because they both only show the most recent 25.

So 2000 max, not a beneficial change. I think it's bogus.

Yes, same experience!  The "Save and Submit Later" DOES NOT WORK.

Also, the order in which my latest waymarks are displayed changes frequently and I've not been able to determine a pattern.  They used to display in the order posted.  Now, no telling what order they will be in.

Since the Waymark List and the Grid are not being updated, I wonder about the map . . . .

I finally had to use "Submit Waymark for Approval" as "Save and Submit Later" would crash and I would lose all the info. I fill out the Waymark with very little info and "Submit Waymark for Approval." Then I go back into the Waymark, choose edit, unsubmit the Waymark so I could add photos and finishing adding info.

Everytime I go to a different function of Waymarking it logs me out and I have to log back in. Or I get a block that wants me to fill out what I did to get the block.

It will not let me send thank you sometimes to Waymarkers who visit my waymarks.

I have had so many problems this past week. None previously.

I am also getting this ssame error message.

I have also had several waymarks approved but not showing up on my waymark count. Also I have some new icons that should show up on my grid but have not appeared yet.
