I drove to Portland (Oregon) this afternoon and got the photos and coordinates to turn the test Waymark into a real Waymark.

I commend you on this. That's a very responsible way to handle it!

    0ccam:
It's not just the waymarks posted grid.  It's also the individual category counts under my Profile Page.

For example, I've been showing 482 Texas Historical Markers posted since before the update.
I got a bunch approved over the weekend, though, it should be 490. You can see that it IS 490 if you click on the 482.

This is working now.  It has been for a few days.  Just sayin'.

When display My Waymarks, they used to be presented in the order in which they were created, and now they are all mixed up.  This makes scrolling through to find a waymark much more difficult.  If I posted a group together, the may now be separated by a couple dozen other waymarks.

I'm not a fan of the swapped / approved order either.

    Re: Release Notes 02/12/09

Well...I'm glad I keep an excel sheet that has the icon, name, WM code, date and whether it's approved.  Now when I need to look at my earliest waymarks I can go to my excel file and pull the code and past it into the address bar in Explorer.  I don't need to apply a waymark filter to see any of my first waymarks now that I have just passed 2000 waymarks approved.

The ceiling is a bit odd.  Perhaps on the largest categories page there could be a counter applied on the search page and you wouldn't have to enter the category to see that there are 2000+ McDonalds...but not sure how many exactly.

That might not be a bad idea. It would apply to any categories that have more than 2000, which over time will be more and more of them. Water Towers at #9 has 1963 and McDonalds at #10 has 1835 waymarks.

If you are interested...send me a note and I'll fire my excel sheet at you so that you can see what it looks like, it keeps a running tally on a couple of items.

    Re: Release Notes 02/12/09

sorry, havend 'read' here since last post. just logging in to post the notes on this scrap so i can toss it.

[add] 'remove filter' link on that tab. -so instead of having to oped the tab, click and update. from the results page, just click the [added] link. alternative: make the grayed out filter options clickable. thus, clicking each on can turn it on/off. then adding 'all' at the end.

[what happend/how do i 'x' now] before i would go to the 'largest' categories--open each one in a new window--and compare the 'standings'. i did this often when NRHP and USBM were having the battle for #1. now its just nice to know that the top few are thousands above the rest of the top 25. [add] now that we are limited to 2000 results, can the total not be added after the category name? either only on the largest page or elsewhere. i know that i have sorted by size on the 'tree' and when i browse there are numbers everywhere. [also] bruce had the thread comparing cache/mark ratios. how do you now get the total waymarks? oh sorry, i just answered my own question as i typed it.

[move]ok, i am making a mark to post/logging a visit. i upload a pic. the link for another is at the bottom of the page and i have to scroll down every time--there are few exceptions, but with several windows open, they are not very wide. if the link was at the T.O.P. it would always be there.

[fix] i am an officer in a category. i go to that category. the menu on the left no longer has the 'approve marks (##)' link. if i click to post a mark, it is in that menu bar. seems like it should be the other way.

[new stuff]i am approving a waymark. i get the proximity alert (i have already spoken that the distance needs to be capable of feet in addition to tents of a mile), but what about adding ghost marks to the map? you already have the category map, and a search from the coords, why not put them togeather on the approve mark map? so when i approve a GHM i get the list of closest marks and can SEE them ON the MAP. so when the list says there is one (X)0mi from this i could see that it is not exactly the same mark,

[more map stuff] lat34 and i had a chat about county lines in describing a FHM. i thought one way, he the other. can we not add the county shapes/names to the map? i know it is probably a 'g'map thing, but still, dont they care about that too? the state lines only show up on certain zoom levels, what about the counties

[in the meantime map stuff] how about a link to make the map 'full page'? you know, in a new window. still have only the zoom functions currently available (current waymark search results only). it would allow some flexability when planning a route (um, waymarks along a route isnt exactly a rquest, but i would probably use it Zip it!)

sorry guys, you know i have always been hung up on the maps (amongst other things). we have a nearest hotel link on all waymarks, but no waymarking.com 'g'map. i cant wait for the day.

    Re: Release Notes 02/12/09

    something i just found:

if i go to someone else's profile. click waymarks tab. click the number next to a category (they had no posts and only one visit) and it is supposed to bring up only those marks that fit the description [McDs visited by waymarker].

[fix] doing this rsulted in a McDs page with no results and the 'filter bar' said these were my marks. the mix up: the search was completed on the 'click' but then the filter of 'my visits' was added.

yes, i might one day want to see which makrs someone else visited, that i visited too, but this time i just wanted to see what mark they had visited.

    Re: Release Notes 02/12/09

Can you make it possible to download straight on to a GPS, as in the Geocache site. This would lead to less transfer errors Smile
