Today our Tea Leaf Friends group reached the necessary number of three officers, so I started making a draft for the category. I filled some text into the description, edited it a few times, created some variables,
and then got to the point when clicking on the category link gives the "Your request has resulted in an error" page and any changes I make to the content are not saved.

Tried to clean up - deleted the variables and all text from the description, still the same. Can someone of the admins reset (delete) the category for me so I'll start over? Thanks.

Well, at least you're not alone. The Geraldines also have 3 officers and I too started to work on the category, and now am getting the same error message when I go to view the category. It's been a couple days, but I'm just getting around to asking for help, so I don't think it has anything to do with the update earlier today.  It might however have something to do with the previous update, but I've no idea.

haggaeus, any changes to your situation yet? None here at my end.

Nope, no change, still an error and no changes are saved.
I'll check again after the long weekend.

Nothing new so far. I guess I'll have to throw a hissy when I get home from work on Monday.

I am having a similar problem although it is for the Category Officer vote...

My category was up for Officer Vote but one officer could not get the vote in on time because of difficulties with submitting (he was continually getting an error message and it did not allow him to vote).

Then the voting time line for the officer vote was done last night at 6:45pm and now my category is stuck  in limbo. It still says that it is in the Officer Voting stage... which it is not. And when I click on the category link from the Group it goes to an error message. I tried both last night and this morning many times and get the same result. Clicking on the "Cancel Officer Vote" results in nothing either... it just comes back to the exact same page with no change. On the "Past Activity" tab it shows the vote as failed....

So is this an issue with the Waymarking site or have I done something wrong or am I missing something?

I have absolutely the same problem - during creating a newversion of Baroque architecture I failed in the 3rd step - officers can not vote and I can not change listing and see the final version of category proposal... strange...

I voted successfully on the  ... Other Ontario Monuments & Plaques ... Category last week, which failed due to the "Error Page" and since then, when trying to review the link, I keep getting  this box, which itself will not send the posting but just sits there, no matter how many times I hit: SUBMIT! .

Groundspeak is aware of this problem and they are looking into it.

- Me thinks they are not too concerned or in a hurry to create more Cats.

I'm really sorry everyone is having trouble creating categories. The problem is we're in the middle of finalizing the monthly release for all the sites so we can't make any fixes until that's ready. It's already been postponed for a week as it is.

We'll try our best to find a way to hotfix if possible. Otherwise we have no choice but to wait until a week from tomorrow. (Tuesday the 19th)

Edit: Just wanted to add a bit more explanation for what is happening. The problem occurs when you attempt to edit a pre-peer review category. If a user were to make no changes after first submitting a category description they would not notice anything amiss. Of course, this rarely happens.

It looks like we're having more problems with officers not being able to view new categories. As soon as possible we'll try to have a fix (also if possible before next week's release). I'm very sorry for these terrible bugs lately. The problem is we were forced to release code before it was ready.

The membership code is shared between geocaching and waymarking, so when it is changed we are forced to release both sites at the same time regardless whether or not we are totally ready. Sean had thought he put in enough safeguards to prevent the half finished code from touching any areas of the site but I think some areas were missed. Fortunately this is a rare situation but in this case it's causing a lot of headaches. I'm truly very sorry.

Can't we just make Geocaching be a minor subset of Waymarking? Then everything could be on OUR terms.

Someone needs to start a category "Places I left a container and logbook". Once it gets big enough, we start dividing by political boundaries... that's so crazy, it just might work!

Your category should now be accessible. We believe we have fixed the problem that sent categories into this unusable state, but hadn't found all the categories that had been corrupted until now. I'm pretty sure they are all cleaned up now. If you find out otherwise, please keep us posted.
