    Smiley Faces Signs

    Hi

Smile Would a category where Smiley face(s) Smile on advertising signs be a good possibility? The sign would need to be permanent, not a banner, billboard, streamer or painted on a window. Preferred would be outdoor signs mounted on a pole, etc..

Example say, would be if there was a  buisness named "Smiley's Grocery" and there was a smiley face on the sign.

Example for NOT allowed would be like Walmart "Rollback" banners that most stores have somewhere in or around store. Or if "Smiley's Grocery" has a billboard out by the Interstate etc..

Also any type of smileySmileBig SmileSad, etc.. would be allowed as long as it is publicly displayed and accessible for logging a visit.

I did search for category, and my search did not turn up anything.

If there is one, I apologizeEmbarrassed

Thanks for any input either goodSmile or badCrying

I'll support any category that takes me to something interesting, historic, scenic, unusual, or useful, but I don't see this one fitting into my tastes.

I can see this going somewhere and it compliments Geocaching in an off-hand way (with a pleasant exclusion of Wally Worlds). Smile

With a clear definition of scope, I can see this being fun. If it's too vague, then all I can say is that you will be disappointed with many submissions.

    Cool BQ

    Re: Smiley Faces Signs

I saw a smiley face on a silo this weekend and wondered if there was a category.  Would have to be well-defined (and I'd say permanent).

Seems pretty trivial to me, but if it's fun for someone, then I guess there's a place for it.  I do think it would be a tricky one to write so that it works, though.

Please, please, please , please no...

Just kidding.  Doesn't thrill me (translation I'm not interested in being an officer), but it seems a reasonable category and I would probably post more than the "one to get the icon".

Sounds like you already have it pretty well defined - my first concern was the transient nature of signs, but you seem to have that covered.  Off the top of my head it seems like it has a good prevalence,  Maybe a little on the high side, but nothing like benchmarks or national register of historical places - at least not in my area.

    Re: Smiley Faces Signs

What's wrong with seeing a few extra smiles in your day? It's going to depend on the wording with this category. You don't want to be flooded with ordinary advertising signs but pics that are a bit different, like the side of a barn, silo, water tower or even cut into the grass on a hillside. Not all categories have to be serious. I say go for it.
