I've been considering a wireless card that I can use while hubby drives, but they can be pricey!

I've gotten really hooked really fast on my blackberry. Not only can I browse the web, and write my logs on the blackberry keyboard, I can plug it into the laptop, and use it as a wireless card.

I have used both a blackberry and a wireless card.  I prefer the wireless card over the blackberry when I am going to use my laptop but the blackberry method works well and does offer the additional options besides just using the laptop.   (Best of both worlds have both Smile )

Re: GIVE PEOPLE TIME TO POST WHILE ON VACATION

Here's another thought on posting while on vacation, why not save to draft.  You still get to keep the data that you are wanting to enter, and you don't upset the applecart.

If categories are expecting a photograph, how would they know if a photograph is really going to follow?  I have been reading a number of posts this evening about armchair waymarkers.  Nothing would signal it more than if one posted 50 or 100 waymarks in the period of a couple weeks with no photos.

As for me, I am just waiting, or am posting on rainy days.  I have been in Oklahoma for the past six weeks, doing nothing but compiling waymarks.  I'll catch up eventually (this winter).

I have noticed BruceS post a number of items that are out of sequence.  I wouldn't think he is flying from coast to coast, but just clearing the logs he has collected.

By the way, don't come to Oklahoma, until I get my Historic Districts posted... it is nearly impossible to get one in St. Louis (Haha).

There isn't a 'save as draft' option for visitis

I am currently a little over a month behind on my waymarks but as far as flying coast to coast, well I have been doing a bit of that... I have been in 8-10 states in last couple months and will add a few more in the next month.

There are several historic district in St. Louis still available to be waymarked especially if you want to waymark Contributing Buildings... I can think of a couple with thousands of buildings just waiting to be waymarked Smile

Re: GIVE PEOPLE TIME TO POST WHILE ON VACATION

Just giving you a hard time, Bruce, I know that there are PLENTY of waymarks in St. Louis.  Doesn't mean your efforts aren't worth the poke!Smile  We're all jealous.

Ok, no draft on visits, then that simplifies what I was trying to get at, and really visits wasn't my focus.  The longer I am active on this forum, the more I realize the expectations of various category owners.  The time I take isn't in the visits, but rather the initial posting of a waymark.  It does perhaps take me an hour to build up some of my waymarks, so in that context, there is considerable time spent.  On visits, perhaps the biggest desire is two fold:  One new, updated pictures, and two updated, new information that would make the waymark better.  The time difference, in my opinion, is considerably different.

My summarized comments:  Draft the waymarks, wait on the visits.  All in all, wait until you can do it the right way.

Of course there are a lot of Waymarks still to make in St. Louis...

Total number of McDonald's minus one
Total number of Taco Bell's minus one
    Total number.....

I had a Palm Treo that got a burial at sea when we got swamped by a power boat in our canoe.  It was my second one (the first one just stopped turning on) and I gave up gave up.  The "Fatbook" works for me, and costs a heck of alot less. Perhaps I'll try again when I'm not paying for cell phones for the kids! Is it time for "Empty Nest Syndrome" Yet?  LOL! Big Smile  I;m nw officially caught up on the backlog from vacation and the places I've visited since.  I do still have 5,000 McDonalds and Taco Bells in the wings Tho...LOL!  Huh?

Re: GIVE PEOPLE TIME TO POST WHILE ON VACATION

I use little spiral notebooks to record any waymarks or my one visit (so far).  The number in the notebook corresponds with the "waypoint" number on my GPS.  Take pics, done.  I don't get in a rush to post my waymarks and won't be rushing to post visits either.  This is a great hobby.  I don't see me getting in a stew over it.  I got a kick out of the "buried at sea".  The terminology, not the loss of the Palm!!

Re: GIVE PEOPLE TIME TO POST WHILE ON VACATION

I just went to Washington  DC on a business trip and took my oodles of pictures that I usually take and when I went to mark them, to my surprise I was behind saopaulo1 by a week! I just waited a week and then went ahead and marked what I could get. Did I miss out on some marks, Yes. But in the long run, it really doesnt matter because if you consider a year or two, you will not notice the missing marks.

And, I had a mild stroke while I was in DC, so when I got home, I was in no mood to warmark anyway.
