Diners, Drive-ins and Dives is dedicated to waymarking independent restaurants that have been featured on a television series for their culinary excellence. We are seeking new members and still have a few positions left for regional officers.
We had a very close vote upon our first peer review. We reviewed the comments made by our peers and have addressed their concerns.
1. The waymarking list is now expanded to a total of five television food critic programs. This is not locked down, as we have made it easy to have other nationally televised series be added to the group's list of included shows.
2. We have included HTML links for all of the shows and their lists of featured restaurants.The combined list of restaurants is now about 1000, and still growing!
3. The restaurant list is now international, including The United States, Canada, the Caribbean Islands, Central America, and South America. Hopefully soon Europe and Asia!
4. The group descriptions are more detailed, and the reporting fields have better descriptions.

 So review our group and join us and the dining table for waymarking you really can sink your teeth into!

Looks pretty good to me!  A good illustration of how to use the forums to develop a category idea.  Thanks for sticking with it.

If it don't go this time I will protest marking every fast food place that is already in my gps and that I already know about!  I know I have marked them myself but come on.  I already know what fast food has to offer.  I want to try something different not the same old same old!

I voted no because there was already a Independent Diners category that serves exactly that purpose you so desire.

I think you are wrong in this conclusion, it was a reason to decline the category when it was only the one show but now it is much broader.   Actually the title may be wrong for the category.  I think if you check the places that Rachel Ray has visited or those in Feasing on Waves you will find most are not diners.  And once you consider that any national syndicate food show can be included I am sure I can find a show featuring Charlie Trotters (Mobil Five Star, AAA Five Diamond).... if you consider that a diner it would be a pretty fancy diner   I would not consider Katz or Carnegie Deli's in NYC as diners either.

Yes, since the category was rewritten it is now inclusive and global.

Will there be some redundancy? Yes, but I have a place that is listed on the historical register that is also a WI FI hot spot and may at some point fit this category as well. It will not fit in the Diner cat though.

I will research the offered shows a little more closely, then.  My initial review made me believe it was a diners only category.  I am not above changing my vote.

I was at work, and I overheard someone talking about the Triple D burger he had for lunch, so I had to check it out.

Then I found it on YouTube, and from YouTube, I found others nearby that I didn't know existed.

I'm planning all my dates nights on YouTube.

I don't have cable, and I didn't know what cool stuff I was missing! Thank God for You Tube!

Actually you don't really have to watch the shows.  The shows all have episode guides which list the restaurants visited.  Even though I watch some of the shows, I am sure most of the restaurants that I will enter in the category will be for shows I didn't see the episode but did find in one of the guides.

In addition to the Youtube.com clips, I also noticed some episode and exceprts on hulu.com

Been out of touch for a while, and happy to see the changes in this category to be worldwide and including other shows.  However, I do still think the name of the category should be changed. I think this category will get glanced over because of the title since a lot of people won't understand the pop culture reference and we already have both Diners and Driv-In categories so there is definitely room for confusion. Naming a group with a pop culture reference (like Diners Drive-Ins & Dives) is perfect, but I still believe the name of the category should be called "Food Travelogue Locations." If you're interested in changing it, I'm sure Groundspeak will help you with the process.
