Would someone  explain to me how "Friends" show up on my Facebook?. 

 - Signed up a little while ago after being asked by one friend and am now asked to invite a number of people to my page. To-day I received an e-mail that "5 friends are awaiting your response",   but after opening the page it showed 140 to be added.
 -  Being a novice at this I wonder where some  of those names come come from, (waymarking/geocaching or?) as there are a number of them I don't  recognize  being in my address book. 

Could be people from High School or former co-workers.
Then again, you could be a popular guy and a lot of people want to be your Facebook Friend!

Posted a photo of Pamela Anders--  on my profile page at YAHOO, years ago. Should have seen the "invites" I got after that so had to change my e-mail address.

Well Jake, many of us are on Facebook but unless you know our real names it can be confusing.

If you go to HOME on Facebook, look to the very top right hand corner and you should see "Requests" and there is a clicky for "see all"

Once you add a Friend, you can view the Friends that they have already added and see if you know any. Most people use a photo of themselves but some people switch their image all the time.

yea, and i made a 'waymarking list' (and a caching list) so i know how i know them....i havent looked at the group to add any new ones.....
