Gone to the dogs CATEGORY proposal

Was looking for the Category for 'Dog Kennels' or pet sitters and found none Sad -- only  'Dog Statues ' Dog Friendly Hotels , Dog-Friendly Restaurants ,  Animal Hospitals  and   Off-Leash Dog Areas  sites.

    - As more than a few of you own pets, especially dogs, I am surprised that this Category hadn't been proposed yet. What do you do when you need a dog sitter?

The usual requirements, such as a photo and some description and a couple 'Variables' would be required

-- Any interest in this?   Dog

There's not a category for Pet Groomers, either, though one for Pet Stores.  None for Dog Breeders.

The problem is that there is a huge amount of overlap.  A lot of animal hospitals also have boarding kennels, which is what I think you are looking at.  Some places, kennel services are offered by pet stores, and breeders often have boarding for dogs.  The kennel we used in Ohio did some grooming, but was mainly a boarding kennel.  (Sadly we couldn't bring our basenji with us to Korea).

Still, I think it is a viable category.  Variables would help keep it orderly.

----- Independent kennels only with no affiliation to a pet hospital, pet stores.

Dog Boarding Kennels or call it "Pet Boarding Kennels", allowing cats too?

Received an e-mail to-day about starting an 'Animal Shelter Category'.
I am not interested in two of them  so if anyone wants to look into that one  -- feel free to pursue it.

(PS- I will look into setting up  a 'Pet Boarding' category tho)

I think the Animal Shelters are covered by Humane Societies and Rescues category, the description for the category is written how I would expect an animal shelter category would be written.

    how about dog friendly attractions?

we recently took the dogs to Rock City....they loved it...lots of other dogs too. one of the high points on the trip, as it was really the only place that wasnt a 'park' we got to tour with the pets in tow.....(we didnt get to ride the incline though ;( )

i know team min dog has theirs with them everywhere--havent we all visited one of their dog friendly food places?

Pet Hotel/Motels, which are fancy kennels, can be separate commercial establishments from pet stores and animal hospitals. I put Indy in the boarding kennel at his vet but there is a fancy schmancy place not too far out that's a five-acre ranch just for pampering dogs while their owners are away. I think they offer grooming services but I don't know if they offer them apart from boarding. *shrug.

Anyway, there's places like this and it's definitely not like waymarking every PetCo on every corner. :)

I recall that when I visited Disney World with my cousin, it was very important to him the the kennel was available.
