I have noticed the comment box is gone as well even when I am submitting a new waymark.

Re: Waymarking Release Notes 10/29/2009
This is a nice touch. While approving a waymark I got this. "As you
have been deliberating about the status of this waymark, another
officer has made the decision already. If you wish to dispute or change
this decision, you will need to renew your session by re-opening your
browser."
Should eliminate double approvals or an approval and then a decline if it works correctly.
The reason why I say if its working is because I paged back and tried it again and 3 out of 4 times I didn't get the message again. I even declined it once to see if I would get the message and didn't then approved it again and finally got the message again that it had been approved already.
I worry that if people use the "back" button that approvals can still be doubled up or overturned.
I probably have a user somewhere very confused by now with a pile of emails.

Bootron is aware of the comment box disappearing. It happened when he was fixing it so it would not show to a waymark editor.... fixed it "too well"

Re: Waymarking Release Notes 10/29/2009
So after I paged back and declined it, I got the message and it stayed in a declined state.
The unfortunate recipient of my trial and error tryout of the feature got in touch with me saying in effect "Whats Up?".
I went back and r- approved it even though I approved it three times and declined it once all by paging back.
I know this will not be a problem for most people and it probably works fine as most folks will not page back to "test it out" once the notice pops up. So not really a bug but maybe a loophole.

Re: Waymarking Release Notes 10/29/2009
Has there been a change to the simple date variable type?
Attempts to enter dates in a new waymark submittal always result in the error "You must enter a valid date in the mm/dd/yyyy format". I have tried using various date format, and have had no luck getting around the error (except to leave the response blank).

There was an error which required strict formatting ie. instead of 1/1/2000 it required 01/01/2000, this was supposed to have been fixed yesterday. I have just tested and it seems to be working opposite now. A date of 1/1/1700 seems to work. The error now is the other way if you enter 01/01/1700 it fails.

Re: Waymarking Release Notes 10/29/2009
Ah, I see. So it is broken.
At the moment, 1/1/1700 works, 11/11/1700 works, 01/01/1700 results in an error.
Thanks, Bruce.

Yep! Having the same problem. After you get rid of the first zeros,(5/3/1876) and hit save, it corrects it by adding back the zeros on the completed page (05/03/1876). But when you jump back in to edit the page, you have to delete the first zeros again.... very strange.

The date problem should be fixed now. You still won't be able to enter 01/01/2009, but it will behave properly when you enter 1/1/2009 now.

Sure would be great if Groundspeak would adopt the ISO format... I confess that I can't understand what 7/5/2009 is. And without the hanging "0", it looks messy in a list.

What's ISO format for dates? It oughta be YYYY-MM-DD. I've taken to using that format because that's the only one that sorts properly with simple rules, like for instance, at the beginning of a file name. And, for that matter, we should all use military time. It's stupid for 12 PM to follow 11AM. And ambiguous if the A|PM is left off.

ISO 8601
Exactly what you said and for all the reasons that you said. And I do the exact same thing as you when naming files and also use 24-hour time which also happens to be covered under ISO 8601.
Going OT now: It always has struck me as strange that the day begins when it does. The start of the day being "midnight" is askew to the fact that the day "dawns" many hours later.
To me it would make more sense if time was fully based on sunrise at Greenwich on January 1st. Therefore the sun would rise at about 00:00:01, which I do understand that as the year progresses that the actual time of sunrise changes but that is how it is now anyway.

Re: Waymarking Release Notes 10/29/2009
cache_test_dummies: opinionate: -Multiple waymark visits (This was done intentionally at Jeremy's request, but the *way* it works may need investigation
Do you mean that waymarking is now going to allow multiple visits per waymark like it did originally? I would consider this to be a very positive development.
As of the moment, it appears that multiple visits to waymarks are now being allowed. Is there any additional information that can be shared concerning this particular change? I'm not sure how to interpret the comment above regarding Jeremy's decision to allow this, and the need for an investigation into how this feature works (it sounds as if there might still be some changes coming in this regard).

Re: Waymarking Release Notes 10/29/2009
So I attempted to help a waymark out by placing it in a category I thought it should go (AIDS memorial placed in the Disaster memorial category). It failed the vote (nothing useful or helpful, just one 'no' comment), I want to put it back to the Uncategorized List.
I can't figure out how to do this. Anyone know?

If it is your uncategorized waymark you can click edit and you will see a link saying change/remove category. If you do this it will remove the category and then it can resubmitted as an uncategorized waymark. Not sure if that helps or not.

Right now, it says [Select a category]. When I try to update (hoping to send it to uncat), I get You did not make any changes to the Key West Aids Memorial waymark.

It sounds like you have it uncategorized. Instead of clicking update click the preview and submit tab on the top of the page. The page should be displayed with a bunch of red text on the top saying it does not have a category. On the bottom you should be able to click submit.

There seems to be the issue... You can't submit it on the edit page. I had to go to the regular view (which I almost never do) and there was information and instructions there.

No, it was an "I told you so" about trying to put the AIDS memorial in the Disaster Monument category; very adult.

Got it Strange context to put that comment in when we were discussing how to get it back as an uncategorized.

Re: Waymarking Release Notes 10/29/2009
well, that happened during the no notification spell after the update....
since it was/is no longer 'my mark', i wondered how it turned out.....i have yet to recieve any sort of notification about that waymark.
does it now become 'mine' again?
and i discussed the topic (aids memorial as a disaster) and not one of them thought that was a good fit as a 'disaster'. i might be one associated with 'bending' definitions of categories, but even i wouldnt classify aids as a disaster.
but it is kind of odd that with all the memorial categories 'we' do have, not one is applicable for an AIDS memorial. pandemic, epidemic, or a category for itself. i placed it in the UCMs for this purpose.....(now, when the aids memorial category is created, wouldnt it be nice if 'I' got credited for the first waymark in the category (and the icon), not whomever just happens to be the first one to 'click it over' when the category goes live.......
-----
sorry, O, that wanst meant to be so much of a jab at you, but more at 'the man'.....for
having such a convoluted system...
....for all you know, i couldve already tried to post it in the category and got denied (you and i both know about marks being denied from one poster, while accepted by another in any given category)
.....for keeping the 'original poster' in the dark about what becomes of such a mark (until i read your post i figured it got accepted, and needed to look for it to log my visit.)
a side note: have you even been to Key West, much less their aids memorial?

It really still is yours, it is listed in your uncategorized waymarks and you can categorize it yourself, when/if there is there is a category for it. You can edit it, change its whole context, add photos, delete photos.

Re: Waymarking Release Notes 10/29/2009
yes, it is currently 'my' UCM.
but if someone 'beats me to it' AFTER the 'aids memorial' category is formed, it will then become their mark.
much like my 'relief art' posting of the 1935 Keys Hurricane Memorial became SfWife's waymark--after she added her 'requested' 'closeup' pic, and added it (back to) the category.....
----
and i believe O was trying to get it back into the 'public' UCM que.....shouldnt i get a notification when he is successful at doing that
(ie: 'Your categorized waymark was declined and is now a UCM again'
your waymark (WMXXX) was categorized by XXXX in XXXX.
This was denied for the following reasons:
'blah blah, yackity smackity'
Therefore XXXX sent it back to the UCM que.
THEN: there should be a record on this waymark, in the UCM que, letting everyone else know that trying to categorize it in XXXX cat resulted in a denial for XXX reason.
wouldnt it suck to get you hopes up, just to learn that it had already been tried....
