    BINGO - Rules?

I've seen several posts concerning playing Bingo with the grid. We've been told that they have stabilized and aren't moving any more. Does anyone want to make rules?

Any 20 in a row? Across, Down, Diagonal?

    How about "2B to 21B" or "5T to  24A"

Is there a FREE SPACE? Where?

Posted only? Visited only? Posted and Visited?

Throw out the rules and "To each his own"?

IMO - Keep it simple - 20 in a straight row, either Across, Down, or Diagonal(Start at any point to obtain 20 in a row.). Anyone who's primary residence is not on the North American continent gets 2 Free Spaces.

    Comments?

I like it too, although there are always ones like New Zealand Historic Sites or Antarctic Points of Interest that get in my way.  Not dissing these categories - it's just that my paycheck doesn't yet allow for trips to New Zealand, etc.  Smile

Sad I guess it has to be a "KISS"  Grid.
When I looked at  mine a couple of days ago I didn't find a single row I can possible  fill, neverless a diagonal one.  Crying

Edit: Maybe we are allowed to create our own "Pukas" where ever we need them.Big Smile

I know what you mean Jake.  I'm just going to have to wait and cross my fingers for row 24.  Smile  Unless I could get a free space - that might work.

Another option is to be able to count of rows and have rankings dependant upon number of icons in a row.  For example; 4 or less in any direction-WayNovice; 5-9-WaySleuth; 10-19; Wayzard; 20 and over WayMaster.

Alternativley, we could look at shapes; square of five sides, square of 6 sides, etc.

On my Grid, I was trying to spell out "I LOVE KOKO" by using her category icons.  But then she up and got that darn restraining order.  I guess I am just trying to fill rows and columns like everyone else now.

    BINGO!    Diagonal 1A Big SmileWink

Realistically, the only bingo's I have a chance at getting seem to be the type that geobwong2k mentions here.

Very creative.  This makes it a little less daunting so more people can take part in the fun and games.

Yes that does make more sense.  Then people could try to make larger and larger chains.

You could have 'snake-like' chains that can change direction vertical or horizontal, but not diagonal and must be unbroken.
You could have 'straight-line' chains that must go in one direction only.
    You could have 'square-stamps' of equal sides {2x2, 3x3, 4x4 etc}

The idea of getting a 20 across would be pretty challenging, or 20 down might be a bit easier since the length will keep growing as Categories are created.

    Cool BQ

    Re: BINGO - Rules?

I started a thread in the Benchmark forum about Benchmark BINGO.
I am still working out the details on the benchmarking competition and game.

It might also just fit in with the scheme here.
get 20 down across diagonal ect.
    They are also fairly gridded.
It could be done by County,State or National level.
And now with the foreign benchmark waymarks maybe globally.

    Any thoughts?

    edit
Well I re read the post.
I was thinking another type of grid.......
    Not the category grid.

    Re: BINGO - Rules?

BINGO!? If I use BQ's ideas, I have a 28 grid, no diagonal, snake-like chain from 5A up to line 4 and down to line 9 before ending at 7T.

OOPS, do we use posted and visited? Are snake-like chains allowed for Bingo, or just for long chains?

Oh, man, I never thought of that!

But there's no challenge in that, because Koko did all the work. Thanks, Koko, for the pretty page.

p.s. A long'snake' might be too easy to achieve, IMHO

    Re: BINGO - Rules?

Bingo, Squares, Snakes, Battleships, Names, and Love letters in the Grid. Anything else? It sounds like we're all having fun.

Yes, a long 'Snake' Bingo is easier than a straight Bingo. But it gets around those impossable to get grids. It still isn't easy. There is one other, that I am aware of, that has a Snake Bingo. His "snake" is closer to a straight line than mine is.

Take a very close look at line 1. There are no "out of North America", or even "State/Province restricted", categories. It only requires some imagination and lots of searching. You all have the imagination, and searching is what this Scavenger Hunt is all about.

    Re: BINGO - Rules?

Well...I guess I am one of the culprits in making a New Zealand category that will be tough for people to fill in that row or column.  I was feeling guilty about this, so I thought I would make it up to everyone by using one of the ideas in this thread.

I created a group called "Free Space".  When it becomes a category, hopefully this will make it easier to fill in the row it is slotted in by you not having to accomplish the task.  The group is set up for marking free parking areas in towns and cities where free parking is difficult to find.  It needs officers and members, so feel free to join here:

    Free Space

It is not a group I am entirely interested in, but I thought it would be fun for the bingo game.

Let me know if you want to be an officer, and also let me know if you object to the category.

    Thank you.

    Re: BINGO - Rules?

Getting back to the BINGO game and possible rules.

After reflecting on it, the idea of the snake is not really useful.  We have a 20xUnlimited grid, so in trying to keep with something of a Bingo idea, here is some options that may work.

Master Bingo = 20 in any direction of created listings.
Major Bingo = 10 in any direction of created listings.
Minor Bingo = 5 in any direction of created listings.

    also

Mega Bingo = 10x10 grid of visited categories
Super Bingo = 5x5 grid of visited categories.
Regular Bingo = 3x3 grid of visited categories.

Now that is very interesting BQ.
It would fit right in to the (thing I am working on).
    And make it functional.

    Anyway lets keep talking.

    What, no 20x20?

Wait, we can have a Lep bingo where you post pictures in the gallery where you are doing some strange thing to the waymark.

Master Lep = 20 in any direction of strange waymarks.
Major Lep = 10 in any direction of strange waymarks.
Minor Lep = 5 in any direction of strange waymarks.
