    Forum Performance Issues Persist

Just posted a new topic and it took an eternity to post.  Had to walk away, slaughter a cow, roast it on a spit, eat it, come back and the progress bar was still clocking.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

Yup, my guess... we're clogging the server with the images of over 50,000 waymarks.

Yes, I'm getting really frustrated with the forums.  I tried to access them a few times on vacation over the last 2 weeks but after 5 minutes of trying to get it to bring up my "unread posts" list, I just gave up.  I have an equally hard time getting it to allow me even to sign in or to reply to a post.  Many a tantrum have been thrown. Perhaps we got a 'hand-me-down' server from Geocaching.

Mrs Irish: "Okay Nate, your brother Jeremy has out grown this but you should be able to use it for a few year"

Young Nate: "Ahhh MOM!  Jeremy got soggy paper all over it"

Young Jeremy: "Shut up weenie, you're lucky to get my stuff"

Mr Irish: "Don't make me come in there and deal with you two"

    Both boys: "Yes Sir!"

Then both of them mutter insults at each other, Mrs Irish makes a wonderful casserole and everyone watches Miami Vice after dinner.

I'm sure thing will improve... patience.

When this pulls up to your house, Jeremy and Nate are gonna give you an atomic wedgie. Which for someone named Blue Quasar is quite appropriate. And yes Bootron and Chim Chim are hiding in the trunk.

I blame it on a certain large software firm in Redmond, WA.

10:06 p.m. CET - Site clocking 2.5 minutes before logging in is completed.

Updating a category, 40 seconds elapses and the message "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding."

Clicking on "My Category" link, 2.25 seconds before site responds.

    Please do something urgently!!!

Anectdotal but after turning off my on-line radio channel, performance does seem to improve.

Of course it has a trunk. How else could Bootron and Chim Chim, pop out of it and save Jeremy & Nate every episode...

Seriously though, I'm find the whole web very slow, whether I'm here at work or at home. So much for DSL...

Very close, but I fixed the last part for you.

As for the forums, I know it's bad but we have a major upgrade planned in about a month. We're working with Community Server right now to make that happen. Sorry guys, just keep hitting those refresh buttons until then.

Nope, I don't see any difference. Just my typical 26k phone line download rate. And that's zippy. I'll bet some of our leaders remember when 2.6k was zippy. It's all in your attitude.

It's not necessary for you guys to report every forum error you see anymore. We know it's a problem and Community Server is working on it for us. Sorry for the annoyance in the meantime.

If it alleviates your frustration, however, by all means let it out. Wink

Don't give me an opening like that!!!

But seriously, Nate do you have any idea when this situation might improve?  My IE homepage is the Waymarking Forums... frequently it times out.  Often I try to read threads and it times out or takes a really long time... forget replying most times... takes too long to work, if it does at all.

I'd love to get caught up on all of the threads I've missed but with the limited performance it is very difficult to do so.  I have a lot to read, and would like to.

Help me Obi-Nate-Kenobi.. you're my only hope!

    Cool BQ
