Waymarking Goals - Do you set them?

Does any one set goals for themselves for waymarking?   Number goals? Category goals?  Grid goals?

So many possible ways to set them just wondering if others have goals set and if so what are they.

Re: Waymarking Goals - Do you set them?

My first goal was to post waymarks in at least half of the categories, and then I wanted to get a bingo.  Lately I've been focused on reaching 100 waymarks posted in each of my favorite categories.  Another thing that I do is I try to grab at least 2-3 new categories each week to keep up with new categories that are being created.

Re: Waymarking Goals - Do you set them?

Since I have asked the question I guess I better answer it for myself.

My goal is 4000, 1000, 500, 5 and all blue and all the goals except the all blue have the same goal date.

Now can anyone interpret those numbers and the "all blue"  Smile

When I'm travelling, my goal is to post enough waymarks that my Mom can figure out what I've been doing

I'm guessing that all blue is all of the historic marker categories (little blue signs).  4000 is total waymarks, 1000 is NRHP, 500 - no idea, and 5 - hmm, 5 bingos?  So am I close? Smile

Let's see, 4000 total, 1000 NRHP, a single waymark stacked 500 deep and 5 waymarks left in the state of Missouri (OK, the last two were pure guesses)Stick out tongue.  All blue probably means at least 50 in a category (the blue ribbon). Maybe the 500 means forum posts? What's your goal date for the 4000/1000/500/5?

My goal originally was 1000 Michigan Historic Markers owned. Which I achieved in a little more than 13 months from 4/18/06-6/4/07. Now I am focusing on 1/2 of the categories. I've no goal date, but then again, I'm not the project managerWink. The BINGO! will come when it comes.  I've learned more about my state in those 14 months that I did in my previous 15 years since I moved here.  That's what makes it really fun.

Well you are close.  4000 total waymarks, 1000 in NRHP, 500 squares in the grid, and 5 bingos (don't have any yet  Sad).   Your answer for historical markers would get me there for "all blue" but actually I was referring to having the map all colored.  I have to look up what the exact date is but it is a few months away.  It will take a while for me to get it "all blue" though.

All Blue would be the state grid. Then you go to Disney land!

Three (maybe 4) out of 5 isn't bad!  I know your waymarking habits.Big Smile  So do you count vertical bingos of 20 in a row?  I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who calls that a bingo.  You're getting close to a bingo in a few rows.  Shouldn't be long now.

I consider any 20 in any direction a bingo.  Haven't got one yet but maybe by 2010.

Re: Waymarking Goals - Do you set them?

Here are my goals. Not in any particular order.

    1. Get a bingo. (Almost there. I have a 16, a 15, and four 14s across)
    2. Get at least 10 icons in each row. (15/30)
    3. Create or find a Texas Historical Commission marker in each county. (Long way to go on this one)
    4. Continue to have the biggest Texas Historical Commision markers percentage. (570/1487 = 38.3)
    5. Create 1000 waymarks in the Texas Historical Commision category. (57% of the way there)
    5. Find historical markers for all of the states. (Long way to go on this one)

If I see it, like it, I Waymark it. Can't pass up a cemetery.

Re: Waymarking Goals - Do you set them?

Ok, I'll 'fess up -- my first goal is pretty basic. I want to get at least one category in each column and row on the grid. (See I told you it was pretty basic!) Haven't decided on a goal to shoot for after that Smile

Be careful if you ever venture north to Pike county, Mo, with 1,500 cemeteries you many never get home Big Smile

Yes there are 12.234 people per cemetery currently living in the county. Stick out tongue

Re: Waymarking Goals - Do you set them?

    - 1000 Waymarks

    - Ten categories in half of all rows  (7/31 with 5 more in easy reach – that is I know where to go and get a few waymarks)

    - Get a bingo…that’s going to mean a road trip into the state I’m sure

    - Seventy five icons joined together on at least one side – not diagonal (because its hard to pick up heritage markers to fill in the grid) – longest run is 28 right now.

    - Right now 250 categories – currently at 228

    - Stay above 1% of all waymarks…a current goal that I am sure will fall as there are more waymarkers.

I just thought on an interesting goal (though kinda dumb) My new goal is to make 1981 waymarks. It's an homage to my birth year.

Well, I'm new here so I would just like to find a few waymarks and hide a few myself! Cool

My goal is catching up with my backlog, especially all the Russia ones (about 80 of those to do yet)

Re: Waymarking Goals - Do you set them?

My main goal is to have fun, and entertain myself. I have discovered that I enjoy acquiring rare waymarks, and their icons.  I was absolutely giddy when I went to the top of North Mountain Lookout and saw the solar panels that run the lookout.

Well I finally hit all my goals I listed here except all blue.  The one that took me longest and I thought I would have it first was 1000 in NRHP category.  Finally I posted my 1000th (and 1001st) in the category.... hmmm what will be my next goal???
