Hi all,
I am new to waymarking and after a day of skeet shooting I have posted my first waymark. It can be seen in the Sporting- shooting ranges catagory.

Welcome to waymarking and your first "Waymark"
You will find this to be an active community of Waymarkers, some of us it's been for over 2 years already and still learning.
If you have any questions just post them on the site and someone will
help you soon or direct you to an area where the answers might be
found. We all went through the learning stages with its problems and
sometimes different opinions, expressed by some of us, to get this
hobby to where it is now. ... So post away as we are always looking for new "Waymarks" for "OUR" Categories.

hikenutty:Welcome Silver & Lucy! Ontario is growing an impressive group of waymarkers! So do you two geocache also or are you new to the Groundspeak games?
Perhaps the recent addition of some Ontario Waymarkers was an article in the Ontario Geocaching Association's latest newsletter. And since I also update the main index page on http://www.ontgeocaching.com/ on a monthly basis, I try to slip Waymarking in there once in a while. It's nice to be the boss LOL.
See page 17 of 24 at http://www.ontgeocaching.com/pdfs/OGA_Newsletter_V4_N3.pdf for the article.
And Jake... we've been within feet of each other and didn't know it. You told me you were at GHAGAFAP, and I worked the grill the whole time. If you ate a burger or hot dog, I cooked it and handed it to you unless you went to the pretty red head beside me LOL

There are some categories that are great for getting kids involved - hunt for new playgrounds to waymark if your son is younger. Interview him afterwards and have him tell you what he liked about the park, what he would change if he could build the park himself, what his favorite section of the playground was... Then you can write it up and tell him he's your "Playground Consultant."
The "Active Rail locations" category is fun if he's interested in trains. Finding new ice cream parlors is always a hit. Hikes, Historic Forts, Children's Museums, great indie pizza parlors, indie bookstores, rollercoasters.... There are lots of ways to get the family involved. We do day trips sometimes to places where my son can enjoy himself (typically near water) and my husband and I can explore, learn something, and take photographs. We take picnics along and it makes for a cheap, fun, family outing (other than the gasoline to get there. )
In general he will probably have more fun geocaching since there's often a treasure at the end of the hunt, but in indirect ways waymarking can be fun for kids - not the actual waymarking (posting and logging), but the visiting of new places.

Long time cacher (six years), first time waymarker. I liked locationless caches but because I didn't feel they were "true" caches, I logged the few I did as notes. I always thought the submission page and search features for geocaching didn't make sense for this type of activity -- that's a big reason why I don't understand the rabid resistance to this site from people who want locationless and virtuals back. So it's another site, it's still easier to browse than locationless caches randomly scattered around the world, never mind figuring out if a given spot was already taken. Recent waymarking threads on gc.com and local forums, both positive and negative, prompted me to look again. I like the changes since I last looked. Much better search features, which is key for this.
And I've never been much for urban caching -- hate stealthing. This is far better for those areas.
Also, I've never been a numbers cacher or cared about getting all the cache type icons. But man, I'm in love with the category grid!
