There was a thread about the fact that visits posted are not quite up to the number of waymarks posted.
Here is my proposal to promote visting waymarks and categories. I'm looking for input, especially from the group who manages "Lucky 7". I tried to look in past entries for something similar but didn't find anything.
For now, I'll call it "Lucky 13 V", borrowing HUGELY from the "Lucky 7" waymarking category. If someone can think of a better title - great - send it to me or post.
The division would be "Waymarking Games."
Though this still requires the making of a waymark, it is primarily a game for visits. Like Lucky 7, you specify a waypoint that is the centroid of a circle where distances are measured from.
Like Lucky 7, a limit to the distance would be good, though 0.5 might be to restrictive in some rural areas where a lot of waypoints have not been logged. But, I don't want to make the scoring too difficult. Is No limit (x0), 1 mile radius (x1), 0.5 mile radius (x 1.5) and 0.1 mile (x2) flexible enough?
The goal would be to find/list in at least 13 of 15 divisions. I'm in a potentially rich waymarking area, and would be a fair challenge. In a rural area, this might be too restrictive. Input on an acceptable number would be appreciated.
Like Lucky 7, a maximum of one visit/waymark from each category will count. The visit must be currently listed on the waymark and generally abide by that waymark's or category's guidelines. Distances would be measured based on using the feature that allows you to find the nearest waymarks from the waymark specified.
People posting will need to list each waymark listed, including the category number, the waymark title, the waymark url, and the waymark number.
Variables are like those in Lucky 7:
Short Description
Long Description
Listing of Waymarks
Radius (in .1 miles) of the visit furthest from the centroid
Tally (No. of Divisions x Radius Factor)
Did you have fun?
I would be willing to be the chair/officer of the management group.
Is there interest in running this?
