I certainly don't want any photos to be hidden. I want to see what people have discovered, without having to do any clicking.
The main discovery aspect of Waymarking is to discover things to waymark.
After a place is waymarked, then the discovery is to go there and discover some aspect that the waymark's page itself doesn't provide. This could be another view (photo), another tidbit of information, or a personal experience there.
I assume your point could be exemplified by the waterfall category. Someone locates it for you (provides coordinates) and provides a picture that gives you some idea of what it's like. You're certainly not going to discover this waterfall. It was probably first discovered by people thousands of years ago, and it was recently documented by a waterfall explorer - the waymarker.
The thing to discover by visiting a waymark is to discover what YOUR experience is when you're there. A picture or series of pictures can't replace that.
I think it's possible to set your browser to a text-only mode. You could do that when planning to visit waymarks.
