silverquill:I think there is a good reason for this. If the waymark depends on photos residing on another server, whether it by my locals server or one such as flicker, it compromises the integrity of the waymark. Suppose someone deletes the photos from flicker or the account goes bad, or my local server goes down or I die! What happens to the waymark?
Uploading a photo using a URL and using HTML to display a photo are two different animals.
Simply stated, uploading from a URL copies the image file over and it's in the gallery without being dependent on the original site. In this respect, it works just the same as uploading an image from a harddrive. It does not matter what you do with the image on the original site. It won't affect the image that's been uploaded into the gallery.
