A friend of mine suggests that it's modern Hebrew. Once he did, I realized that I had rotated things so that that language was upside down (since I didn't realize it was a right-to-left) language, and the letters match the Hebrew alphabet.
Ancient Hebrew is on the other side; that threw me a little.
