Seeking input and officers for a category and group that I'm interested in forming.
They're called Life Lists and Bucket Lists. They were recently made popular by the Jack Nicholson/Morgan Freeman movie about two terminally ill men intent on fulfilling their life-long wish lists before they die.
After reading a recent popular book by travel writer Patricia Schultz, "1000 Places to See Before You Die: A Traveler's Life List," I was inspired to combine this with my waymarking passion to create a new category or Bucket List of waymarks using the sites and experiences indexed in this book and her follow-up "1000 Places/U.S.A and Canada.
Many of the featured places are listed at 1000beforeyoudie.com. Examples include the Pyramids of Giza, Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), Taj Mahal, etc. Also listed are festivals/events like the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland) and Mardi Gras (New Orleans), and experiences like Tracking the Mountain Gorilla (Uganda).
Only one waymarking submission would be accepted per indexed book entry (including larger entries like Rome, New York, Paris, etc.) Many sites could be waymarking traditionally (Coords, Photos, Description) and must focus on a landmark or recogziable site featured in the book. Festivals and Events must be attended and treated similar to the Festivals category. Experiences would have to reflect where thrill-seekers could find the experience (It's listed in the book).
Whaddaya think? Ready to start your Bucket List?
Interested participants are welcome to join The Bucket List group now accepting officers.
