something i just learned with savannah GHMs, google hmdb (historic marker database, like the 4th result). search for the name of the marker. now you dont have to worry about reading the sometime tiny print, nor waste time transcribing it.... lat34's site had a link to it. dont know if it works in TX. i know GA had a lot of things posted (in some areas), but hardly any in others....

hmdb doesn't have many markers in it yet, but it is a place to check.

So is historicmarkers.com.

Working the THC Atlas

For a while now I'd end up posting a TxHM waymark with no Atlas number because I couldn't find the entry. And periodically someone, usually YoSam, would later email me and tell me the number.

I'd go to check him, and I still couldn't find the entry.

Well, today I tried something new and found an entry.
I went to the Atlas and hit the County search tab.
I selected my county and hit search.
Then I clicked on the Print All Results link.
This opened up a new tab in Firefox with a huge list...with links.
I found the marker I wanted using Ctrl-F.
I clicked the link. The previous tab updated with the entry.

Not sure why the keyword search wasn't bring it up, but whatever. This seems to work.
