Updated the resource list today with the last 13 submissions updated as "found" locations.

Waymarks were placed in 9 different states out of the 13.

Congrats to nomadwillie who has located 21 Zippy the Pinhead locations throughout the Northeast with several "first to finds" in various states.

DopeyDuck found the Liberace Museum - Operational Difficulties - Las Vegas, NV.

This strip wasn't in the Zippy Locations in the Real World lists that I could see. I am still impressed by the resourcefulness of those that submit to the category.

Are we having fun yet?

The latest batch of waymarks have been added to the Zippy Blog. Here I try to give credit for the strips that are already waymarked and I add any new locations to the list if I can verify the locale featured in a new strip.

The Zippy Blog is a resource for waymarkers to locate potential waymarks in areas they frequent or may be traveling to. The blog lists known locations by state and or country. The blog covers the years 2000 to 2009 but is not all inclusive and many locations have been waymarked that were not listed in the blog. There are many locations that are in Zippy the Pinhead strips prior to the year 2000 not featured in the blogs catalog of approximately 1400 potential waymarks.

Kudos go to FiVermont for waymarking the first Zippy location in Vermont. Additionally it was a location not listed on any of the resource lists and therefore found my some other means than the various internet resources.

I wonder how do you guys do that? Always impresses me.

the sarasota twistee treat.....it has been posted, i visited it....on THAT DAY it was being dismantled and shipped to storage.....

such a shame....there are lots of those 'buildings' in the region.....

Some thoughts about the category.

I have been surprised by the amount of locations that have not been already in another category and with the quality of the majority of the submissions. Everyon has done a great job.

Another surprise is the amount of posting which have been made that feature locations that are not included in the online resources. This indicates that some people are using offline research such as the Zippy Annuals that catalog locations meticulously or possibly just a memory of a place that had been featured.

The oldest Zippy Strip thus far was from a strip in 1994 , posted by Go Boilers! and showcasing the Luxor in Las Vegas. How in the world did they find this. I am impressed.

The next oldest strip is from 1998 (I think it's the 2nd oldest) and is of The Transamerica Pyramid and waymarked by saopaulo1.
New waymarkable locations continue to be added as well. Yesterday's Sunday Strip featured a location in Maryland. So I added it to the blog list that I have going. There have been a few other recent strips that I know are real world places but I just don't know where they fit. When they get updated on the Zippy in the Real world list I will add them as well.

Zippy has visited two places in Alabama.

Not as many as California with over 22 visits but he has been there. I posted here about haw many locations were available from the year 2000 through 2008. There are over 1400 waymarks available just for those years. If you are a serious pinhead there are other resources that could be checked as well.

I will try to through together a list of locations available by state at some point. I have a breakdown of them by state at this time so if anyone wants to get a list for their area they can PM me or contact me through my profile.

I'd never heard of Zippy until this category. He's not carried locally and apparently has never been to Alabama.

I'm not sure "poised" is the right word. More like pounced! I've never been an Officer in a Group with so many submissions in such a short period of time.

To those that said it lacked prevelance, I agree with our illustrious leader....YES WAY!

I believe there must be a bit of Zippy in all of us, and the kinda places that appeal to him also appeal to us.

That would explain the funky aftertaste.

Not only did I go out of my way today to submit a waymark, but I actually "lol"d at the strip!

By the way, I've got a list of the Florida places for any Florida waymarkers that are interested (and don't want to do all this work themselves). The list has eliminated places that have already been waymarked and are too vague for the category (aka. just naming a town). Msg/Email me.

Will Sunday comics be included if they have no title besides "(Sunday)" and how would you want this written into the waymark if they are accepted?

You didn't miss it. It wasn't there.

Yes they will be included and one already is. What makes this extra difficult is that some Sunday Strips are named in the archives and others are not.

I like how saopaulo1 named his Cinerama - Sunday strip - Los Angeles, CA so think this will be the standard for cases such as these.
