We were recently driving along the Colombia River Gorge between Oregon and Washington and observed simply hundreds of wind farms along there! Wow! Those were not there two years ago! This business of wind energy is starting to be a big deal!

One thing that comes to mind tho is that these 'wind energy' mills are alot different to the wooden structures that we had in past decades. Perhaps there is good reason for seperate categories.

We have a wind mill inour back yard strictly decorative.

I'm in!

Jerri

The modern windmills are accepted in the current category and many have been submitted. No need to separate them out now.

BruceS is right about this. In fact, after our trip through Oklahoma, we posted to the Wind Mill category and the leader of the group emailed to let us know that the category takes old, new, lone, or in large farms. Even said on the large farms if anyone got coords for individual mills he accept them. Of course, try getting beyond the fence...

montythemule may have very few waymarks, but he's kept his category very open, so sorry but another category would be redundant.

Re: Wind energy conversion

n2life:

We were recently driving along the Colombia River Gorge between Oregon and Washington and observed simply hundreds of wind farms along there! Several groups such as Bells have different types of categories.

Not to rain on your parade, but I have to agree with BruceS on this one. I've waymarked several of these in the Windmills category, and see no compelling reason to pull out a subset of an existing category to form a new, smaller, more restrictive category.

There are now two categories for bells, but they are mutually exclusive. The new Belltowers cat would not have any, or very few, waymarks that could be included in the other Bells category.

No one is suggesting that there should not be overlap among categories, but this is a case of total redundancy, as I see it.

Re: Wind energy conversion

These would be only those that are related to commercial operations.
The purose of this category is to locate and document wind energy "farms" and business whose purpose is to gather the wind and to convert it into electicty.

The initial thoughts would to only include those commercial facilities and not include the one off wind electricty generation such as a cattle water tank.
