Oh yeah, and if you're using iPhoto, select the photo in your library.

Open the Extended Photo Info panel, Command-Option-I or Photos menu->Show Extended Photo Info.

If there is geo-data to display, it will show up in the location section.

Open your iPhone photo, or any geotagged photo, in Preview. It's normally the default viewer already.

Open the Inspector window for a photo, Command-I or Tools Menu->Inspector.

Select the middle group at the top, (comic bubble with an "!").
You will see tabs to display all the metadata inserted by the camera.
If there is geo-data, you will see a GPS tab. If none, the tab will not be present.

Select the GPS tab to see the coordinates and a mini-world map with crosshairs at the location.
Click the locate button in the panel to open Google Maps to the photo location! Cool, huh?

You'll have to get a piece of software capable of seeing the coords.
I don't have one that does that for the iPhone itself...I use a Firefox extension on my PC/Mac: Exif Viewer

It appears that Photo+Map Lite (or the full version) will create a copy of your photo with the coordinates on the photo as text.

The iPhone 3G takes 2 Mp geotagged photos. The iPhone 3GS takes 3Mp geotagged photos, as does the soon-to-be-released Garmin Oregon 550(T).

Just sayin'.
Cool. Pretty soon I will have to get a cell phone (I use my wife's phone on the rare times I need one) so maybe some iPhone thing would be good. Thanks 0ccam! BQ

I have to add my vote for either a seperate iPhone app or add waymarking to the current Groundspeak app.

Visiting
- select "Show nearest waymarks" button
- select a waymark
- select visit
- type in your text
- optionally select "attach a photo"
- select a photo from your library, or take a new one

Creation
- select "Create new waymark" button
- drill down to the category OR select the unassigned/orphan/generic category (orphans being discussed elsewhere)
- enter title and description
- select "attach photos", select photo(s) from library or take new ones
- for coordinates, select "Use coordinates from a picture" and select the picture (since pics are geotagged)
- or select "Use current location"
- or, select "Manually enter coordinates"
- when you return to your desk, if created as an orphan, the waymark can be assigned to a category
- enter parameters
- submit to group for review

I've heard a rumour about something like this in the works, or maybe it was NorthernPenguin saying that he was toying with making something but when he saw something from Groundspeak, he felt he might be too late.

I'd put on my volunteer reviewer hat and ask on that side of the fence, but the only place that I could is dedicated to Geocaching. It would be like asking people in here to make a Geotagging Camera. Still, I see if I can find out anything that I can talk about, and let you know. Do I get an iPhone if I solve this for ya? {kidding}

Yeah, I'd buy that.

On the other hand, I should get to coding! I think the very first function you mentioned could be implemented in HTML5 on a website...
