It often occurs that you want to edit the caption/description of already uploaded photo's.

Now you must delete the photo and again upload to same photo with the changed text

Is there a reason why that is not possible?

I have often wondered this as well. I also just found out recently that the photo is not really deleted. It is archived. I thought I had deleted a photo recently but was able to go in and update it and bring it back again. Once you are off the page that gives you this option I don't know if you have the ability to go back and find it again but it gave me the impression that it is still there in the system somewhere.
