    Cat Proposal - Bicycle Racks

Anyone interested in helping with a group to manage Unique Bicycle Racks?   I found some very kewl ones I'd like to log somewhere.   Let me know if I'm missing an existing cat, please.   Thanks!

Would you be able to provide some images of the things that you've seen that highlight the concept?

I have also seen some interesting ones, however categories like this are very difficult to manage due to the subjective nature of "Unique".    Trust me, reviewing waymarks in a subjective category can be very difficult.  To give you an example you will get a waymark of a "Unique" bicycle rack and approve it and then the same waymarker will submit 10 more just like the first "Unique" one... hmmm not so "Unique" anymore so do you decline the later ones.  Or you get the situation where someone gets a new bicycle rack in their town, it is very "unique" to them however in your hometown you have 50 just like the one they submitted and that style is very "ho-hum" to you and you now reject it and have to explain how this is not really a "Unique" bicycle rack.  Then two weeks later someone else submits one and a different person in the group looks at it and not realizing the history of one you rejected approves it thinking it is "Unique" enough.  You can forsee the rest of the story, the one that had his waymark rejected questions why his was rejected and the other wasn't and so on.

Work to get a clear description of what is expected with examples of what you are looking for and also examples of what  you won't accept.

Thanks, Bruce.  Point well taken.  Perhaps 'non-traditional' is a better description?   And, for that matter, I don't see any problem with waymarking any bicycle racks - might be something someone would need to find.   I'll work on a description and hope that there are a few other people that might be interested in participating.

I'll happily provide pics but not sure how to attach them.   Quick primer someone?

I would add into the definition something about being artistic in nature and not just painted.

Also, will you accept bicycle garages?

Yep, bicycle garages, too, although I admit I've never seen one.

Still need two members to join the group in order to submit a category....  "Bicycle Tenders"....

When I saw the heading I thought boring!  I can think of umpteen really, really dull bicycle racks, but some of those pictures really are interesting.

Good luck with getting the "uniqueness" criteria right.  It will be a challenge.  Don't worry I won't be submitting any of my dull ones ;)

I would help with this.  I've often driven past figurative bike-racks and thought "that would make a great waymarking category!"

Re: Cat Proposal - Bicycle Racks

With the pressure on oil prices I can see where this type of item could becoming more in vouge. This could be a growing item and worthwhile as a cat to show how a "need" could be filled at the same time adding a little art or flair.
I would be willing to help.
