    Viewed Waymarks, etc.

Perhaps this has already been discussed in another thread; my apologies if I'm repeating something.

Has anyone else noticed that their viewed Waymark list is several months old? When I click on the Waymarks tab and scroll down to "My Recently Viewed Waymarks," the most current one is from four months ago. I know I've had views since then, because I've had visits posted and I've had people email me about some Waymarks. Also the list of "Waymarks I've Recently Viewed" is incredibly out of date.

It's not just my Waymarks. The section for "Most Viewed Waymarks" says that none have been viewed in the last 24 hours, last 7 days and last 30 days. I find it impossible to believe that *nobody's* Waymarks have been viewed in the past month!

I really like knowing which of my Waymarks are being viewed. To me, that's as nice as a logged visit.

Honestly, between the forums becoming increasingly difficult to access (let alone post to), rather sluggish performance when creating a Waymark, and features not working, it's getting more and more frustrating to participate in Waymarking.

    Re: Viewed Waymarks, etc.

The view counters were turned off a few months ago and it was communicated here in the forums.  They were turned off because they were causing performance problems.

I agree these are interesting  statistics to have, it would be nice to see how many came from internal and how many came from external

    Re: Viewed Waymarks, etc.

Thanks for the info. I missed that earlier in the forums. Considering that it has taken me six tries to get into the forums to see if there was a response, it's no wonder that I missed it earlier Sad

Do you know if there are plans to bring it back? If they aren't planning on returning the view counts, they should delete that whole section from the page, IMHO.

I know I probably sound cranky, but geez Louise, the performance issues are getting very frustrating.

What's the story on views now?  All of my waymarks say "Views: 0" on their page, but on my waymarks page, some of them are getting viewed every few hours.  Is it all just random now, or is the Waymarks page accurate?

    Re: Viewed Waymarks, etc.

I think a big part of the views are the indexing spiders from Google, etc. I think  it was the indexing spiders that caused them to shut off the views. Maybe they have it that the indexing spiders don't update the count on your waymark.

Post a link to one here, and I will visit it, then you can see if it goes up on the waymark page.

Not when I look at it Huh?  Your view does show up in my most recent views, though.

    Re: Viewed Waymarks, etc.

I still see 0.  But again, my Recently Viewed list shows Wampa's view.

It almost seems like I see 0 views on my own waymarks, but I see the count on others'.  Can anyone else confirm that?

Edit: I just confirmed this.  I logged into my family account, and I could see the views on my waymarks.  When I'm logged in with this account, I see 0 for the views.  Anyone else?

    Re: Viewed Waymarks, etc.

I tried all of the combination's and the views seem to be working fine for me.

Yesterday I had an odd problem unrelated but couldn't get to some pages to post a waymark using Firefox but with Safari I was able to do so. Some odd activity here.

I see the same as you. On my own waymark pages it always 0 views but on the summary page it shows counst.  When I view other's waymarks I see a count which is the same as the summary page.

Can you guys explain this. Maybe I am not on the same page/pages as you. Are you speaking of the Waymark Statistics page only or something on a different page?

    Re: Viewed Waymarks, etc.

There are two places that show counts of your views. If you click into your own waymark, just below the reviewed by is a views count.

Apparently, you don't see views on your own waymark, only other peoples waymarks.

The second place that you see views of your waymark is when you click on the waymarks tab. If you scroll down, you can see statics of the most often viewed of your own waymarks, within certain time periods.

DP was noticing things in their waymarks tab, and seeing that the count wasn't going up on the individual waymark.

    Re: Viewed Waymarks, etc.

    Thanks for the clarification globetrotters.us.

OK I get it now. I was focused on the waymarks tab and not the waymarks themselves so wasn't understanding the issue.

Yep same thing here. 0 views on the waymark themselves if I am logged in as me and when I take on my alter ego I can see the counts. Interesting.

Perhaps it's a "Feature" to keep our ego's in check, and not a bug?
