    Denied because I have done too many in a category - huh?

    OK, I am really confused and hope I have not violated the rules of the Waymarking site. I just had a Waymark declined (in Figurative Public Sculpture) because "I have too many and was told to keep it to my 10 favorites." There are probably millions of statues in the US, and many, many more world-wide (ever been to France?), so how do I know what will be my top 10? And I am sure that over the past year, I've already done more than 10 figurative public scupltures because I like artwork and statues.

    Is not the goal to submit and visit as many credible Waymarks within the guidelines of each category as possible? I just looked at the FPS category and my name was not the only one in a stream of posted Waymarkers. Am I totally missing the point? I just came off a one week working vacation and was trying to get the Waymarks done for other to enjoy. I really don't want to tick anyone off, but I also like to complete Waymarks. Nor do I know who sent the 'decline' so I don't know who to speak to directly. I did resubmit the Waymark with these comments. Trying not to whine, but feeling reaaaalllly confused.

    That sounds like complete BS! As far as anyone I know knows you post what you find regardless how many in a particular category. "It's not about the numbers" is frequently thrown about. That's certainly true it not about the numbers, it's about having some fun. It's not your fault if you find more waymarks than someone else. They shouldn't be able to tell you there's an arbitrary limit.

    If this were the case and it was across the board, Waymarking would be a long way off from it's recent 100,000 waymark and BruceS (sorry Bruce don't mean to pick on you) might not have reached the goal of 5000. (Dang, that's impressive!)

    If the folks running the figurative sculpture category want to play the game in such a way then perhaps then some of them should archive some of the sculptures they've posted. I didn't go through the entire category, but the groups officers have the following totals;

    caverspencer - 2

    robbdogg120 - 5

    GA Cacher - 13

    Math Teacher - 12

    DANG! I have 9, I better be really selective in the future.... Whatever!

    Actually the officers of this group need to look at how many waymarks they have in other categories and if they have more than 10 in any category then they are being hypocritical if they submit any more waymarks to those categories, and should consider archiving any over 10 in those categories.

    Yes, I agree this is beyond bad manners and not at all within the spirit of waymarking. Someone should point the leader to this thread if they have not already.

    I'd rather they didn't archive valid waymarks for a foolish reason like this.... There's no limit, unless it's stated in the description and for what it's worth, I would not vote for a category that has a limit like that without a lot of explanation.
