Flickr- Waymarking Group (a shameless advertisement)

Just want to welcome everyone to the Flickr Waymarking Group at  http://www.flickr.com/groups/waymarking/

Hikenutty did a great job of starting and keeping this going for so long ...  and it's still going strong!    For those of you for whom Waymarking is as much about the photography as it is the Waymarks, this is a great place to showcase your gallery.    And, with links to the Waymarks in the photo description, you might get lots more hits on your Waymarks!

Don't forget the monthly contest - you, too, could be the proud recipient of .....  bragging rights Big Smile  Just tag your appropriate photos and they will become part of our monthly slideshow and contest.    And, even if you don't want to participate, you're more than welcome to stop by and vote.

Check it out - membership on Flickr can be free (depending on the level of use you choose)  ... it's all in the spirit of FUN, so visit us at http://www.flickr.com/groups/waymarking/

Re: Flickr- Waymarking Group (a shameless advertisement)

I just want to share some incredible photography,  Keep in mind, all these photographs are associated with a Waymark or Waymark Visit ... and submitted by fellow Waymarkers to the March Flickr/Waymarking Contest.  (click on the 'Show Info' tab for more information)  .... And, there's still time to enter -- although be forewarned, there's some pretty stiff competition going on here.

Also, anyone can vote on the past month's entries.  Just c'mon over to the Flickr/Waymarking Monthly Contest Page  and cast your vote.   You will also find details for next month's contest.  Feel free to enter, it's easy and fun!

Re: Flickr- Waymarking Group (a shameless advertisement)

I seriously am not meaning to be boorish or anything, but my OCD makes me do it, I swear!  Embarrassed  Actually, I started the Waymarking flickr group.  BUT.  It wouldn't even be a quarter of what it is now probably, if Hikenutty hadn't came along and did all the hard work to promote and run everything.  I've been happy to relax and see the rewards of a wonderfully run group.

And while I'm handing out accolades, thanks fishingwishing, for doing all that you're doing as well.  A great group is great because of the people involved, willing to consistantly contribute and create a community on the internet.  Cool

Now, all I need is a little help with my other groups as well: CITO, Travel Bugs, and Signal.  Big Smile Wink

    Do tell us more!

I've not got into the Flicker thing, but I'll give it a look.  Oh, I think I did post a couple of waymark pics to a Flicker group for Italianate buildings that I came across when researching some waymarks.

I joined the Travel Bugs group and uploaded a couple of photos of my Travel Bug Car...
Does that group also want photos of the Bugs in situ at caches or is it just to show off the Bug once?

I love flickr, as you can upload pictures and others can see the original size and save it if they want to. It's great for sharing with family and friends. The site is easy to use in my opinon. The groups are fun to belong to. I'm met some nice people there.

Great! Thanks for joining and posting! I love your car pic. I'm happy for people to post as many pictures as they want, of Travel Bugs/Hitchikers in any and every way.

Here are links to my groups (other than the Waymarking group that was posted above). I haven't been good at making them exciting, like contests and stuff. When I first created them, I searched for appropriate photos in flickr and posted invites to the group on them. I need to do that again.

The CITO group had a good amount of pictures at one time, but for some reason, a lot of the pictures were taken out by the people who had added them. I don't know why, they were really great additions to the group.

This month's Flickr/Waymarking contest is all about VISITS....   If any of you have visited another person's WM this month and have a favorite (or two or three...) photograph you'd like to share, here's the perfect place!

Also, there's still time to vote on last month's awesome FLOWERS entries.  Just c'mon over to the Flickr/Waymarking Monthly Contest Page  and cast your votes.

Re: Flickr- Waymarking Group (a shameless advertisement)

Our fellow Waymarkers have done it again - another banner contest for the Flickr/Waymarking Group.    There were twenty-three entries in the Summer 2009 contest submitted by five different Waymarker/Photographers.    We've got bridges, beaches, lakes, fountains....   everything imaginable to fit in with the 'Water Features' theme.

Please head on over to the Flickr/Waymarking Monthly Contest Page and show your support by voting for your two favorite photos.

(You can view the individual photos and respective information by clicking on the collage above the poll.)

    Thanks!

    Bump!

Ambrosia is trying to get the monthly contests going again.  So far, this month looks like it will be a 1-way tie between me.  That's no fun!

The theme for this month is Museums/Things Found In Museums -- just about everyone must have at least one of those.  Come, bring your photos!

Thanks for the Bump! I put one up.

It was hard to think of things I have waymarked inside Museums. I think, aside from this one, I have penny smashers from all over.

Re: Flickr- Waymarking Group (a shameless advertisement)

    Thanks for the post. :-)

I have some stuff, but none of it's posted. I may have some visits to already marked museums, but I have to look around. I haven't been able to get to it all yet, but I'm planning to.

I was trying to figure out if places like the Seattle Pacific Science Center would be considered museums. They don't say museum in their title or description, but they fit into the Science Museum category, I think. Hm.

Re: Flickr- Waymarking Group (a shameless advertisement)

I added a couple. The one I like the most is the neon sign. Here you are in an old train depot turned museum. Several boxcars have been add as additional display rooms. A basic pioneer museum and then you turn the corner and there is a beautiful vintage neon sign from a long gone theater. One entire boxcar has been transformed into a mini theater using the original seats from the old theater.

I found out after I took my shots that photography is not allowed in the museum. Embarrassed OOPS
