    Waymark to Geocache Ratio

What is your state/province/country Waymark to Geocache Ratio?

For my state of Missouri - currently has 5953 Waymarks and  4154 Geocaches.

The ratio is 1.43 Waymarks per Geocache.

To get number of waymarks click on waymark tab --> additional search options-->region search select your country than state if applicable

To get number of caches click on hide & seek a cache on left menu-->select either state or country from dropdowns

    Re: Waymark to Geocache Ratio

    Colorado, United States

    1,539 waymarks to 10,295 geocaches.

    0.15 waymarks per geocache.

    6.69 geocaches per waymark.

Thankfully we have a lot of waymarkers (mr. volkswagen, condor1, ronjean, Team Min Dawg, and a few others that escape me right now), so I'm sure that waymarking will certainly catch up.

I helped you along a little I was only there for about 6 hours and contributed 36 Smile

Somehow I contributed 36 to the Colorado total also and was only there for about 6 hours too.  Smile  I was driving north along the eastern edge.

    Re: Waymark to Geocache Ratio

North Carolina currently has 13,230 geocaches and 3,311 waymarks.

So that's 4 geocaches for every waymark or 0.25 waymarks for each geocache.

    Texas:

    28,495 Geocaches

    4,955 Waymarks

That's a hair over 0.17 (waymarks per geocache).   That's AWFUL.

There's nearly 6 (5.75) geocaches for every waymark.

My theory: It's because we Texans haven't been waymarking very many restaurants, even though we have lots.

(BruceS HAS been down here.  So it's not that. Not sure about saopaulo1.)

Yep I have been to Texas, I have 256 there... I was in Texas more than 6 hours Smile  (Missouri only has 166 food and drink waymarks in total)

    Ontario Canada

    Geocaches = 12,519
    Waymarks = 3,799

    3.3 Geocaches per Waymark
    0.3 Waymarks per Geocache

23.3% of all listing in Ontario are Waymarks.

And I've really been slacking over the last year...

    waymarks to caches 0.237

It should probably be pointed out that a significant number of those Waymarks in CA are due to saopaulo1's efforts :)

Another interesting aside is that the nearly 60,000 active caches/Events is merely a fraction of the total number of Geocaches that have been Published in the state since the inception of Geocaching (>100,000).

In another shameless plug for the State, I'll also point out that we lead the Nation in Wherigo Cartridges (nearly 80).. ;)

    New York:
    12,522 caches
6,113 waymarks (only 950 are mine, I'm slacking)

    2.04 caches per waymark or
    .49 waymarks per cache.

I guess I'm a little surprised by that since nearly all of downstate (NYC and Long Island) is fairly unwaymarked. There's probably a ton of things that can be waymarked in those areas too.

    Florida:

    8633 Waymarks / 17520 Caches

.49275 WMs per GC / 2.029 GCs per WM

this number should be changing proportions this year, there are several of us in the state and many many visitors that come through....

    Tennessee

10,435 non-event geocaches    with 493 placed in 2009 as of today

4,186 waymarks - not a good way to check 2009 posts

    0.40 WM/GC ratio

Kingsport, TN - within 10 miles from downtown Circle Circle

    426 geocaches

    463 waymarks

    1.09 WM/GC ratio

    A better ratio?

Tennessee has 281 waymarks in 2009.   To get number click on Newest waymarks (this will bring up the newest 2000 waymarks worldwide and sorted by date), click on filter,  Select country and region, then update.  Page back until last year's waymarks are found.  There are 25 waymarks per page.  For Tennessee the change over is  on page 10.

As of this morning (2/26/09) the State of Florida has:

    • 9430 Waymarks
    • 18,208 non-Event Geocaches

    If I've done this right, it's a ratio of .52 WM/GC.

I guess I'd better get crackin'.
