Viquesney's Spirit of the Doughboy Statues

The original leader has allowed us to take over this category and we now have our group together and group vote passed. Now we're asking for any further suggestions and comments from you before we go to Peer Review. Thanks in advance. macleod1

Re: Viquesney's Spirit of the Doughboy Statues

I think one thing you will need to be careful of and mention in the category is that these are for only Viquesney's "Spirit of the Doughboy" Statues and not John Paulding's  "Over the Top"    Note these statues are often confused with each other and both have the soldier with an up stretched arm.

A couple other things you may want to address is whether you will be accepting the replica replacements or other versions such as Rylander version or the George Yostel copies which are also present.

Re: Viquesney's Spirit of the Doughboy Statues

I'm going to wait to vote, because right now - my initial reaction to this is negative and I want to think about it.

    Some thoughts:

Why? These can already be waymarked under war memorials
Prevalence: I personally don't think 140 is enough for a category, although I know others disagree with me (and yes, I know there are several categories that have many fewer, but just because other categories were approved with too few, doesn't mean we should make the same mistake)

Anyway, like I said, I want to think about and see others' reactions.

Yes these can be accepted in the World War I category and there are several there.

I think a bunch of them are also listed in the figurative public statue.

Re: Viquesney's Spirit of the Doughboy Statues

Thanks for your suggestions, Bruce. We have made some changes dealing with the exclusion of the HTML clipboarJohn Paulding's versions and an explanation as to why we will accept Walter Rylander's version. Unfortunately we can't change anything in the write up at this point because it's gone to group vote and we can do no further editting. Is there any way to make this modifications before our proposal goes to Peer Review?

I don't have a clue why "HTML clipboard" is showing up in our correspondence. Please forgive the glitch.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm worng, but I believe that if you make changes after your officers have approved the category, it will make you do an officer approval again before you go to peer review.

I believe believe that onfire4jesus is correct and the edit possibility is locked from officer review to peer review.

This is correct however I also feel that the changes should be made and have the officers vote again instead of sending to peer review without making the known material changes.

I canceled the original group vote in order to make the changes we felt were needed. We will be sending it back through group vote shortly. Thanks for the suggestions and advice.
