Gauging Intrest and opinions - Unique Mailbox Posts or Stands

    Hi

Since started Waymarking,(not that long!)  I started to notice alot of Uniquie and different Mailbox Posts or stands. I know there is Painted Mailboxes and Unique Homemade Boxes, but I do not see one for unique/ornate  mailbox Posts.

I personally have seen engine crankshafts, old plows (ploughs), welded straight chains etc...

I am sure you all have seen odd or different ones also.

Would this be a good idea, or although they are different than the normal 4x4 wooden post, are they not that different or are they too prevalent.

    Thanks for answers.

I've eagerly been awaiting this category, and it's been suggested before but has never materialized... please charge forward!

There is already a waymarking group called "Themed Homemade Mailboxes". Most of the mailboxes you mention will already fall into this category.

That category is for the mailbox itself. This one would be for the holder or post. For example...

This Category would be sans the mailboxes or only as an extra or afterthought.
     - Yes, this subject was brought up a number of times as some tried to submit them under the previously named "Mailbox" Category and summarily rejected.
    - Surprised to have to wait 3 years for someone to finally fill the void.

So I'm guessing Mrs. Blue Quasar likes the new job with Canada Post.

I would gauge this as a positive response, but there is one big hurdle - the same one that has plagued the mail box group (and weather vanes, and some others) - how to keep it from being hugely subjective!  Defining it with terms like - interesting, unique, creative, unusual, artistic, etc. makes it hard for the waymarker to know what will be accepted and hard for the reviewing officers to decide.  Not opposed to the idea at all, but just want you to know what you'd be jumping into.  I think a lot of us would like to see this one fly.

I don't see that there would be too much of a problem. No ordinary posts like cedar/wooden  posts, pipe posts or t-bar/fence posts.
    -  Homemade, unusual would fit the description  if it was specially designed to show off someones artistic abilities, or maybe inabilities.
    - They can be stone, brick welded chain or implements or as shown in the photos above.
    Not like any of these
