    Re: Is waymarking down?

Anyone else having trouble uploading photos?

I have been trying since last night, to upload photos on some new waymarks I am listing and I get that error message asking what I was trying to do when I got this error.  I thought it might have been because of high volume of usage on a Saturday night, but I have tried several times since then and I can't upload anything.

I am uploading a 2.2MP photo, so file size should not be the issue.

The photo uploading issues have been going on for quite some time. Groundspeak is aware of the issue. I've heard that they know this is a big issue for us and it is my hope that they have some plans to resolve this but something as important as this will likely take a while to correct. It might not even be in the next update but again, they know about the problem.

Some have had results, with varying success.
    - Edit the size of your images (125kb 640x480)

I've had no need to change anything, instead when it fails I simply try it again and it usually works on the second go. Very rarely does it fail three times.

    Re: Is waymarking down?

I know of the problems in the past but this is just a flat out can't do it.  Could the problem be on my end?  I have had no trouble loading pictures up to the geocaching site.

    Re: Is waymarking down?

Is anyone else having trouble logging into waymarking? I logged in this morning and reviewed several waymarks, however, now I am getting a message when I try to log in, that my IP address is being blocked by the server. I tried from several different directions, such as directly typing in the website into my address browser, clicking on the links for waymarking awaiting review from my email, and even through the forums and I get the same message each time....

You are not authorized to view this page

The Web server you are attempting to reach has a list of IP addresses that are not allowed to access the Web site, and the IP address of your browsing computer is on this list.

    Please try the following:

HTTP Error 403.6 - Forbidden: IP address of the client has been rejected.

    • Open IIS Help, which is accessible in IIS Manager (inetmgr), and search for topics titled About Security, Limiting Access by IP Address, IP Address Access Restrictions, and About Custom Error Messages.

    Any thoughts or suggestions??

I'm getting it too and someone else started a thread about it in the WM.com section of the forums.

    Re: Is waymarking down?

An upgrade is underway and it is taking a little longer than usual,  the site should be up shortly.

    Re: Is waymarking down?

I was hoping this was the case.

I had the pleasure of chatting with OpinioNate at the Seattle GPS Adventures Exhibit & Event and he shared some of the ides they had in the works. I look forward to some of them he mentioned but didn't mention them earlier because I didn't have specifics and didn't want to mess up and have incorrect info.

    Re: Is waymarking down?

The first update it done. A change from "unauthorized" to "down for maintenance". Smile

Waymarking.com is temporarily down for maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience that this might cause. While you are waiting, may we suggest:

At least they changed to a better message....

What are we getting from this upgrade?

    Re: Is waymarking down?

We did take the site down briefly but I didn't post release notes because there have been no significant changes. That is not to say, however, that no development is being done.

Sean is about halfway through a big project that will lay the ground-work for a lot of cool stuff. I don't want to reveal just yet what that is until we have a clear picture of the changes, but I'll fill you all in soon!

Edit: It's down again just for a moment to fix some issues with the membership payment service. It'll be back up momentarily.

Edit again: I'm sorry we've been down for so long. The problem is that the two sites share the membership service (that's why you can share logins between sites) which was updated for Geocaching. The devs over there aren't in the habit of thinking much about waymarking.com so some incompatibilities have arisen. It should be fixed within the hour.

Although this is OT: Last year I saw a bumper sticker on a truck at a gas station. It was for "Roller Derby" by a company called "Death Row Games"... it had an awesome cartoon blue devil girl on it. I have searched and searched for the graphic... have never found anything close.
