I noticed something that I had not noticed before.  If you click on the small maps to the right side of the site pages you can pan it around. When you do there will be a button displayed saying, "search from map center", if you click it, it does just what is says, it displays a list of waymarks from the map center.  Is this new or is it something that has been there forever and I never knew it?

It has always been there as far as I know, at least since July of 2008.  It was actually one of my preferred search methods until the search function was improved.  When you first go to the home page the "search from map center" button is not visible, but it appears once you click the "+" to zoom in.  I did not realize it also becomes visible when you pan. 

This was also my preferred method of searching for WM's when I was visiting a new town, until I found the Google Earth KML plugin. But I still use the search from center frequently.  Although lately its been broken more often than working. When you click the box for Show Map, it doesn't do anything.

I never noticed the button feature until you wrote the post.  Learned something new!!

It's not new since I started waymarking.  I've been using it all along to visit waymarks "around town"

Yeah, that's it.

In my case it's because I keep that map turned off. It slows down page rendering.
But now that you've mentioned it, I'll go check it out!

oh, how i love the map.

but still, it isnt displayed correctly on all pages.....

go to a mark. see the map. (feel the map)

now click 'visit this mark'. what did the map do? it reset. what if i forgot what i wanted to say and need the map to remind me? what if i forgot what category i was logging it in (for multi posts) and need that icon on the map to remind me? in my opinion the only time you need the 'blank' map is before you enter coords on the post page.... the map 'disappears' on several other pages as well...

I have used this map often and love the pan and search capability. Thisis how I plan what waymarks to visit while traveling to a new area.
