Site back up after Fisher Fire

    Yippee,

The site is back up following the outage caused by the Fisher Building fire.  I was fascinated following the events on Jeremy's twitter page. What a great use of twitter to keep hobbyists informed of the progress in getting the site back up.

    Cheers,

    RitC

Not even sure.  I'm not really an active twitterer at the moment but discovered Jeremy's tweets after surfing the web for info on why the site was down.

I'm an active facebook user but I'm still trying to think of what I would personally use twitter for.  I can't even get my family to use facebook.

Hope someone from Gourndspeak will post the story here in the forums.

Actually I just joined Twitter last week to try to follow an international meeting that we couldn't attend.  I found it very confusing and cumbersome to use.  Just trying to get an account was difficult for some reason.  There was also a Facebook group, and it was quite easy to use and that's where I had the best discussions.  All I got out of Twitter were some sleazy looking girls who wanted to follow my Twitters.  Sure, they can be blocked, but what an annoyance!  Sure, I've occasionally had the strange friend request on FB, but these hit within days of getting a Twitter account.

Anyway, I'd sure like to know what transpired with the fire!  I'd also be interested in knowing what kind of off-site backup Groundspeak has.   Kind of scary to think of the damage that can be done by a fire or natural disaster, or something more deliberate.

Here is a link to Jeremy's Blog (which I should point out is NOT listed in Waymarking's Bloggers category tsk tsk) :

Hey Nate... give big brother a FWAP and get him to add it to our A-1 category. Sure I know that no one would have been able to access it during the fire...

    Cool BQ

FYI the incident was reported by Groundspeak in the Geocaching forum.

0ccam had a pretty good tip in the blog comments about a status site.
