    Indiana Waymarkers...

St. Mary's Catholic Church in Beaverville, IN will be celebrating its centennial on August 29th. In addition to being a new This Old Church and Catholic Church waymarks, it also has a Churchyard Cemetery.

Hat tip to Rensselaer Adventures for the info. :)

I just did a Google maps search for Beaverville, IN and came up empty.  There is a Beaverville in Illinois, which is close to Rensseler, IN.  It's not too far from Joliet.

Gosh, you're right! Sorry about that. With some Google-fu, the church is also on the NRHP!

    Wansdering OT:

This is a prime example of why Indiana and Illinois should be merged into one state.

They are both about the same size and shape, and people mix them up.

Just think of all the management overhead that could be saved by combining them.

While I cannot speak for everyone, we would happily accept a merged "Illiana" as the 11th province of Canada. This would also reclaim that one pesky "great lake" that we lack.

    Cool BQ

If we grabbed a few more we could get a path over to eastern Canada and would no longer need to worry about a referndum in Quebec.

I wonder if the Blackhawks would play better if they were Canadian.

I used to joke that every town in Illinois is a suburb of Chicago.  I can just add Indiana to the list of 'burbs.

So, is anybody going to visit this church?

The CFL can have the Bears as far as I'm concerned.

Trust me anyone more then about 50 miles outside of Chicago are far from being suburb and many wish that part of the state did not exist.  Parts of southern IL are more a suburb of Maysville, KY than Chicago Smile  by geography and thought.

Not much better, they're mostly Scandanavian or former Soviet block.

If there were any US Flagmakers, it would make a HUGE stimulus to the economy if everyone had to buy new flags. Just think of all the jobs it would create!

I used this joke to get at my wife.  She was living in Rockford at the time.  Some of students I went to college with from the north east corner of Illinois liked to say they were from Chicago.  It sounds more interesting than Arlington Heights or Palatine.

Some of my family is from Southern Illinois.  My Grandparents met in Collinsville.  My mother was born in Alton.  I've been down there enough to know how different it is from Chicago.
