    E-mails through Waymarking.com

When you are sending someone a message through waymarking, there is a option which says "Allow recipient to see my email address" when people do this, the following line in the e-mail sent should be removed.  "To respond to this message from Waymarker X, use the following link:"  Leaving this in is confusing when I get an e-mail to determine if they sent their e-mal along.  It makes sense to have it there when they don't send their e-mail but doesn't make sense when they do!

I disagree.  It may need to be reworded but the link should remain.  What if I don't care to reply back and give my email address then I can click the link send message back.

    Re: E-mails through Waymarking.com

    well, i agree....

i sent something to swizzle....i check the box....

he replies by clicking the link,

but if he saw my address INSTEAD of waymarking, he would know to just reply....

i thought there was, for a short while, another stipulation inserted about the like about you dont need to use this to reply....

how about changing the text to say this is their profile, not to reply use this profile....

    Re: E-mails through Waymarking.com

i might like to add that the send my address box should be auto checked (like it now is on gc.com, right?). then itll be there unless you dont want someone to know it...

I get lots of emails that I choose not to reply directly to, if it is someone I don't really know but has a general waymarking question I will always use the link.  The reply to address is there so if I hit reply I can but the link should remain.

    Re: E-mails through Waymarking.com

When I get an email from the site I'm never sure if I can simply click "reply" from my email program or not.

So I do, because I'm not concerned about giving out my email address @gmail. When the sender did not include their email address it will try to send to waymarking.com and then I get frustrated because what I wrote will end up going to the wrong place unless I happen to see it.

I would click the link within the email, but then I have to remember to check the box to include my email address and end up losing the original text.

Regardless, I find the email/site messaging system clunky compared to geocaching.

    Cool BQ

"This user included their e-mail address, click reply to respond directly or click this link to respond via their profile."

"This user did NOT include their e-mail address, to reply click this link to respond via their profile.  Hitting replay will NOT go to the sender."

That would be a good change and makes it clear what options are available.

I'll bump this thread from last year.

It there any reason why the 'email check marks' on WM.com can't be sticky just like on GC.com.
    I want to:
Allow recipient to see my email address
Send a copy of this email to me
but I often forget to check the box on WM.com.

    Re: E-mails through Waymarking.com

The way the emails view in GMail, I can't see the reply to address, so each time I hit reply and look to see if it's the noreply@ address.

It drives me up a wall, but I would rather the person I am emailing have the option of hitting reply themselves.

When I am using my blackberry for correspondence, its a pain in the neck to use the waymarking interface for sending mail.

With GMail just click show details an it will show if there is a reply to address.  Then you will know if you can reply directly or have click the link to reply through the waymark site.

I don't think I get that choice with the mobile version of gmail.

i thought that if you DID NOT send your address, the discaimer at the bottom of the email will be longer and state you must reply through profile.

I think it is the same whether the actual address is included or not.

On WM.com emails, the message is the same regardless.

    Re: E-mails through Waymarking.com

i also noticed on GC the subject is 'Bruces contacting Chapterhouse from geocaching'.

cant the WM emails say something similar?
