    Megalithic Monuments

I have been a fan and ardent poster of waymarks to the Megalithic Monuments category.  I have a waymark that has been sitting for a while in this category unapparoved.  I just checked the group and the leader has not logged in since last year.

Open enrollment is on so I joined the group.  I find it a pity that such a category has a deadbeat leader and would like to do something about it.  I would be willing to take over the leader spot (I lead a handful of categories).

Any suggestions about how I might go about helping to replace the leader of this category? I think the leader would need to be voted out by the other members in the group and then a new leader would have to be selected somehow.  How might this work in theory?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

My understanding is that one of the current officers in the group would need to call a vote to demote the current leader, and then 100% of the remaining officers would have to vote in favor of the demotion.

At this point, the 'call number 2' officer would become the leader (I believe).

That category has a large number of officers, so a 100% demote vote seems unlikely to me.

By the way - does anyone know if a category leader has ever been successfully demoted this way before?

Can one of the more active officers promote me to officer level? Or can only the leader promote non-officers to the officer level?

Officers in the group can call a vote for your promotion and it takes 66% of the vote for you to be promoted.  The leader can promote without a vote.

    Re: Megalithic Monuments

I sent an e-mail to the category leader offering to take over the leader position and I surprisingly got a rapid response indicating that he wanted to continue as the leader.  I noticed that he logged on to the website right after.  He has not many waymarks or visits but it seems he would like to stay connected to the hobby.

He did approve my waymark after I pointed out that it was waiting for some time.

So a positive outcome in this case.

That's great! Now tell him you'd still be willing to hepl out with the category if he'll make you an officer.
