    Country & State?

Is there anyway to set my country and state as a default so I wouldn't have to click those 2 dropboxes everytime? I wouldn't even bother asking but sometimes the state freezes up and I can't click on the state for 2 minutes or more. I live in the U.S.A. and have no future plans to leave and I might leave state once every 3 or 4 years. Just being a pain. Swizzle

    Re: Country & State?

This was brought up a while ago as a feature request. It's one of my biggest pet peeves on adding new waymarks, since my browser takes forever to recognize the drop down change to the States after choosing US.

Since they added sticky dates when logging, I wonder if they can have sticky fields for the Country & State?

    Re: Country & State?

yes, i often get freezes loading the state. i miss the 'page save' at that point too--i would enter some variables and such, THEN set the country state, and i could navigate back to that point if need be.

i guess having your default location (no place like Home) as the sticky would be ok. but how many of us post in other places. or went on a road trip. maybe if it would be sticky while active on the site, but reset to home after a timeout--much like the sticky dates operate.

now, can we have the beta us map be clickable so we can pull up a list in each state (our posts/visits, but also on others maps). i have one marked in kansas thats really in kentucky--similar to the other thread where someone was looking for one posted in one country, that turned out to be in the next alphabetical country.

i know i sometime get corrections about the state being wrong. so then, why cant we have an alert/search function for existing marks that the coords to not match the listed state?

    Re: Country & State?

As long as we're making feature requests, how about an auto-detect based on the coordinates?  I use a website for tracking my bike riding that, when I upload the GPS tracks, "guesses" which town I'm in.  OK, it usually guesses wrong, but it never gets the state wrong.

I've found fairly often people posting the wrong state, especially when most of their waymarks are someplace else.  I always feel like I'm being a little annoying when I e-mail them to ask for a correction.

    Re: Country & State?

As you see, not possible.  If it would default to the last value used, it would be almost as good.  Same with the E W N S coordinates.  It is a pain to have to remember to change the W to E when I'm posting waymarks from here.  If one's state or country is way down the list, it is really a pain!  And, we do want to keep waymarking gobal, don't we?  This feature would sure help out anyone who doesn't live in the United States.

While on this subject, I would love to have the same "default to last value" feature instituted on the filters for one's waymarks.  Usually what I want to filter for are my pending waymarks, but each time I have to uncheck every box except that one!  That's a pain.  If it defaulted to the last value used, then I'd have to change it only if I wanted to search by other criteria.

some values do stick in the current session. but if you did it in a new window or it gets closed.

    how about this feature request:
when i log out of gc.com, to sign in in another name, i then dont have to relog into wm.com. odd how they want to be seperated so much, but rely on each other in so many ways.

I asked about this on one of the IRC chats. They didn't do it because of the cost of their geocoding service...or something similar.

That would likely be because you do not have a Geocaching account or a Waymarking account... you have a Groundspeak account.
