I just read where the group leader and designated officers now have control over the logs in their catetory and the waymark owner (founder) will no longer have control over visit logs.
The original poster will continue to have the ability to make changes to his or her waymark, however the "visit" logs will no longer be under his or her control. We feel that since Groups determine the visit requirements for waymarks in their category they should be the ones to monitor the logs. In the future we will have a flagging system for notifying the Group of inappropriate logs.
This won't work for Best Kept Secrets or other categories where the waymark owner specifies the logging requirements for the waymark. Particularly when the waymark owner (founder) provides a question that needs to be answered as proof that the waymark was visited. I and my officers may have no idea what the correct answer is. Expecting the group managers to keep track of the answers for all the waymarks in the category is unreasonable.
The waymark owner (founder) should be responsible for the visit logs to their waymark. Even when the requirements for a visit are stated by the category managers and can't be changed by the waymark owner (founder), the waymark owner (founder) should have primary responsiblity for ensuring the visit requirements are met and the group managers should only be involved when there is a dispute. (If we were to use the geocaching analogy - waymarking is not geocaching so it may not apply - this is like asking the volunteer reviewers to monitor "found it" logs on everyone's cache)
