There was a Peer Review of palmists twice a few years ago.  As you can see, it did not pass.

Any idea on the feedback? It seems like if it were written from an "Americana" perspective and examples of the signs and buildings it would have a fair chance. The mechanical fortune tellers were approved.

but we have coin operated rides (slightly above payphones, and probaly more widespread)

No idea.   I would ask Macleod1 to see how it turned out.  Since it was brought forth twice without success, I wouldn't bet on a third time.

I contacted Macleod1, and they are going to reopen enrollment to this group, and then allow me to take over group, and see if , with anyone who is intrested help, it could be tweeked to pass peer review.

They told me , and I quote "Talk about frustration....many of
the people in Peer Review had the mistaken idea that all Palm Reading establishments were
fronts for prostitution and other illegal activities"

I did not read the entire long description  for the group started by Macleod1, but just the quick description states quote

I was also thinking about adding Psychics locations also. (There are some pretty unique signs for Pshchics around here). In my part of the world, palm reading/ psychic readings are a legitimate form of supplemental income, and quite popular.

I read the few comments here, and it seem there is at least a small interest in this group.

I am asking for any other input, please, before I take time to move forward.

Oh my gosh, I had no idea that people would think that the Palm Reader establishments were "fronts for illegal activity". I know I'm naive, but..... wow! I just never heard of that!
I think this is a great category idea, and would vote yes.

Just a comment. On my way home from Springfield, Missouri, I saw this brightly lit location with lots of neon. Aside from the Palm Readers and Psychics in this location, was also a strip club. I opted not to waymark it under neon lights.

I have not gone around looking for either establishment, but if people have similar areas in mind, that may be the connection.
