Help with 'where's in a name'

N!TR0 (with a zero on the end) becomes:-

    60870

if I cut it up as 60deg 87.0' I must round up to make the minutes make sense to give:-

    61deg 27.0'

Can anyone help me with this? ;-)

Re: Help with 'where's in a name'

I guess you could also split it up as:-

    6deg 08.70'

Could any lovely waymarkers help me with getting a reading at one of:-

    N6deg 08.70'
    N61deg 27.0'
    W6deg 08.70'
    W61deg 27.0'
    E6deg 08.70'
    E61deg 27.0'

You would be awesome people/persons! :-D

Re: Help with 'where's in a name'

I think you will need to expand your GPS pool.

Find a relatively large city (50,000 +) along the Lat or Long you desire and look at the names of the cache owners in the area.  Find the one the seems to occur the most frequently after scanning 5 pages or so. Send a private message asking for help.

They should be familiar enough to know about waymarking, so that part doesn't need explaining.  Just explain the goal of the game.  If you feel "waymarking" will get the virtual door slammed in your face, then tell them it is for a Challenge Cache.

E6deg 08.70'goes through downtown Geneva, Switzerland.

Unfortunately I do not have any plans to go there in the near future (It has been on my list for a while now). But it is a highly popular tourist region, much business travel as well. Maybe you find somebody going there soon.

I spent quite some time contacting geocachers for my name in coords, and couldn't get anyone to help. I used the same recommendations mentioned above!  I wish someone would ask me for help-since I'd love to do it!

Re: Help with 'where's in a name'

I've helped several find their name a few years ago. I'm still available to help others. If your coords put you below San Antonio, TX let me know. Don't ask me to go into Mexico. That's too dangerous.
Once per year we also plan a driving trip to Chicago.
    My home coordinates are near N26 10 W98 00

Re: Help with 'where's in a name'

I'm always will to help some one. Our Home coordinates are:

    N50 00   W97 00
and our range can easily be:

    N47 20 to N 50 20
    or
    W95 20 to W98 15

And in January we are planning a road trip may go as far east at W75 30 and as far south as N 24 33, so we might be able to to anything between:

    W 75 30 to W 97 00
    or
    N 24 33 to N 50 00

You're 629263 which becomes 63 32.63 which is Nova Scotia.

    Suggestions:

    1) Contact Arvense who is active (Last Visit: Sunday, September 04, 2011) waymarker in the Halifax, NS).

    2) Contact geocacher jagr87 (last visit Monday, 05 September 2011 and premium member) to snap a photo by his "Undercover" geocache GC1JGZ4 (which is a mall parking lot) at coords N 44° 40.475 W 063° 32.634

    Good Luck!

The N 61 deg 27.0' line cuts right though the centre of Hervanta, a suburb of Tampere I live and work in (and is home to many other geocachers/waymarkers). If this request is still active, I'd be happy to snap a reading anywhere in northern Hervanta.

One possible location candidate is the Särkijärvi beach, which also has this traditional cache still on my to-do list: http://coord.info/GC14KBZ

Done at N 61 deg 27.042' E 023 deg 49.078! These coordinates take you to the information board at Särkijärvi beach in Hervanta, Tampere, Finland. I also sent you a PM about the waymark.

after all that, it got declined as the first coordinates has to be exact, so the .042 is wrong :-(

No worries, it was an error as the reviewer thought my name ended with a letter o instead as it really is a zero '0' :-P

Re: Help with 'where's in a name'

I've made several offers this past week to waymarkers whose usernames convert to my location. One has been completed (flipflopnick) and I can't wait to see that waymark show up!
The others will have to wait till I head down to OU but that won't be too long. The fun part has been convincing the other waymarkers that I am doing all that hard work and they get all the credit!  I've realized that the coords are the easy part. Finding a good spot to waymark that matches those coords is the challenge!

I am currently working on coordinate photos for: fishingwishing and fi67 and I'm waiting for a response from three others that I can help out. Fun!

Re: Help with 'where's in a name'

It's so nice to see others doing all the work. :-)

If somebody has a name that converts to about either 7 30 (better more) or 47 30, just drop me a note. Unfortunately I will not be very mobile in the next couple of weeks, but I will try to get your coordinates if possible.

Re: Help with 'where's in a name'

I am going to the San Juan Islands (San Juan, Orcas and Lopez) and the I-5 corridor between the San Juans and Vancouver, WA if anyone has name coords that touch on those areas.

Re: Help with 'where's in a name'

    My home location is N 45° 16.609 W 075° 45.576 Ottawa Ontario Canada
    Cottage is N 45° 18.502 W 077° 22.720 Quadeville Ontario Canada

I travel a bit, anywhere with 100 miles of those is fairly easy, and would give me a good reason for a roadtrip to geocache.

model12 gives me 6633512, so if there's anyone near Frederickton NB, Fort Yukon Alaska, or Gallivare Sweden who can help, I'd be most thankful...!
